EDNA FAYE FENTON (nee CROSS) June 8, 1922 July 4, 2012 Edna passed away peacefully at Poseidon Care Centre on July 4. She was predeceased by her parents Geoffrey and Jean Cross, her husband David Fenton, and her sisters Jean Cross and Avey Yates. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dennis (Judy), grandson Derek, granddaughter-in-law Erika, and great- grandson Aidan. Edna was born on a farm near Rocanville, SK but the family soon moved to Winnipeg. She married David just before he went overseas in the Second World War and didn't see him again for five years. Their only child, Dennis arrived in 1946. The family lived in the west end, first on Strathcona Street and then Valour Road. When David was hospitalized in Deer Lodge Edna moved to Linwood Street to be closer to visit him. After he died in 1973, she kept right on going to Deer Lodge as a volunteer. She amassed hundreds of hours there over the years. Some will remember her singing to the veterans. Mom's passion was antiques. She was an early member of the Manitoba Antique Association. Saturdays were filled with cruising garage sales and flea markets and buying and selling at shows all over Winnipeg and southern Manitoba. In her later years, Mom was a resident of Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts on Ness Avenue. Her eyesight deteriorated which meant she listened to the radio for hours. CJOB can take credit for her being one of the best informed octogenarians around. Mom's final days were spent at Poseidon Personal Care Home. Special thanks to the staff at Poseidon for the care and comfort they provided. As per moms wishes, Cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Mom will always be in our hearts as the devoted, kind, and loving person she was. Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery Crematorium 1800 Day Street 224-1525
