PETER DANIEL STEVEN SHANOHA December 12, 1936 - July 4, 2012 It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Husband and Father, Peter Shanoha at Riverview Health Centre, Dad's residence for the past nine years, on July 4, 2012 at the age of 76. Left to forever cherish Peter's memory are his sons Brian, Wayne and Ronald (Monica), daughter Denise, his wife Yvonne, of 56 years and many, many friends. Peter was born in Winnipeg where he met his wife Yvonne and raised their four children. Peter bought a home in the north end of Winnipeg in 1963. Dad and Mom's weekends consisted of taking the kids to the beaches all summer long, in the winters, it was hauling us around to the Northwood Community Club to skate for hours on end, or taking us to a huge hill for tobogganing with our crazy carpets. Peter worked for Motorways as a truck driver until he had a stroke which lead him to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Peter could no longer walk freely as he used to. Dad was the social butterfly, when he went out to do the shopping, he spent more time talking to whomever about whatever, always cheered people up right to his final days at Riverview, and he continued to do the same. Everyone at Riverview was inspired by Dad's zest for life; he never wanted to see anyone down and out. Dad loved his truck driving days and spoke of those often with everyone who came by to visit. Those were some of his most fond memories. Dad was the most positive person, always had a beautiful smile on his face no matter what he was going through. We would like to give a very special thanks to Riverview Personal Care Home for their care and compassion to our father and husband. Our Dad was very special to them as we have learned over the years.
