Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEA THURSTON (TARDIFF) On Monday, July 30, 2012, Léa passed away at home at the age of 73 years after overcoming years of challenges through immense strength and determination. Our Mom and Mémère was eased of her suffering and granted her final desire to pass away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Ronald. Her children; Gordon (Liette), Darrell (Line) and Darlene. Her grandchildren; Stéphane, Colin (Tami), Justin, Colin (Lindsay) and Paul (Kristen). She is survived by her brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. Léa was predeceased by her parents Alidor and Hélene Tardiff; her sister Louise; and Godson Bert. Mom was a woman of great strength and character with a strong devotion to family and pride in her grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at the Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street in Winnipeg. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the many nurses and home care workers who helped us in providing her with a comfortable stay at home. Donations may be made in Léa's memory to Canadian Diabetes.

I was Mrs. Thurston's roommate at St. Boniface Hospital before Easter. Lea was kind and friendly and spoke so softly she was just a gem of a person. Family meant the world to her and she always lit up when she'd say they're coming to visit. The family seemed very close. Heaven has another angel.
