HILDA NELLIE HIEBERT It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the age of 85 on August 22, 2012. Hilda was predeceased by her husband Alfred, whom she missed dearly, and brothers Frank, Jacob Henry and sisters Mary, Elizabeth, and Nettie. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Dan and wife Theresa, son Darrell, daughter Patricia and husband Peter, grandchildren Erika, Kristin (Kyle), Dallan, Cara, Denyse (Ryan), Drew (Ashley), Devin, great-grand-children Aidan and Zhanna, and sisters Annie, Lydia, and Erna (John). Gramma was born in Eyebrow, SK where her parents operated a family farm. Later they moved to Lena, MB. After getting married, they farmed their own until they moved to Winnipeg in 1956 where she worked as a seamstress and in retail businesses. Gramma had a passion for life, enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Her passion for family gatherings and reunions will be missed, and remembered as we continue the traditions she started. Our comfort comes with knowing she is at peace. The family wishes to thank the staff at Meadowood Manor for the loving care and comfort they provided her. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. For those who wish to make donations in lieu of flowers, these will be graciously accepted in memory of Hilda at The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Hilda was " mom" to me. I miss her very much. I very often think of her and remember how loving and kind she was. Family was her top priority and she made sure we all got together often for family dinners. I will never forget how kind she was to me. She was the absolute best mother-in-law I could have ever wished for. I am so lucky to have had her in my life, I love you mom. - Posted by: Tracey (Daughter-in-law) on: Apr 22, 2020

  • I have just found out that my dearest Hilda has gone. I cannot tell you how sad I am to hear that her spark has left the earth. There was just something so special about Hilda. From the moment I met her, I knew I would love her. Her spunk, her spirit, her sense of humour just touched my heart. She and I were like two peas in a pod in many ways (some would say stubborn... I like to say "determined"). We laughed about so many things together. We picked on each other something awful... but all in good fun. I still have the start of the story we began... Hilda Wildanotthebeast. I think it will make a wonderful children's book... or part of a book about the gifts of Alzheimer's Disease. Hilda was a gift to be treasured. I don't think she really knew how amazing she was. That made her all the more lovable. Thinking of you all as you continue on your journeys with the memories Hilda gave to you. xxx000 - Posted by: Georgina Knight (former Recreation Facilitator at Meadowood) on: Oct 24, 2012
