Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRMGARD DREXLER (IRMA) Sadly we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Irmgard (Irma) Drexler on September 3, 2012 at Riverview Health Centre. Irma was predeceased by her beloved husband Karl in 1988. Irma is survived by her four daughters Trudy (Ed), Irene (Gary), Karen (Dave), Angie (Brent). Also eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren Jenny (Matt), Kevin (Rachelle) and family, Doug (Shila) and family, Dave (Luana) and family, Kristin (Brian), Ryan, Vanessa and Megan. Born in Germany in 1927, Mom was the eldest of nine children. She and Dad were married in Germany where they lived until after their first daughter was born. In 1953 they immigrated to Canada to raise their family. Mom and Dad lived most of their lives in St. Vital until Dad took an early retirement and they decided to try their hand at farm-life. In 1979 they moved to Stuartburn, Manitoba where they enjoyed the farm until Dad's passing. Since then, Mom moved back to St. Vital to be closer to her family. Mom enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, baking, playing bingo, and of course the occasional girls trip out of town. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her daughters and their children. She was always there whenever a helping hand was needed, pleased to be so actively involved in our lives. She was a great support for all of us and helped us through many difficult situations. We only wish she could be here for us now, to help us through this. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Salem for his years of care and concern as Mom's physician. We would also like to thank the staff at the Victoria Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for their support during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of Mom's choice - CancerCare Manitoba. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street. A private family interment will follow. My sister's love is especially in my heart, for as she not only took on the role of my mother, who was still in Germany, at our wedding in Minnedosa in 1969, but our travel through our journey in life was always filled by her Love for Donna and me.
