Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN JOAN HANSON (nee FEE) January 4, 1930 - August 29, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend, Helen, who died peacefully and surrounded with love on Wednesday, August 29. Born in the home of her parents, Albert Fee and Louise Palmer, on January 4, 1930, Helen began her education in a one-room schoolhouse, and later graduated from St. Francis College in Melbourne, QC. She married Gerald (Gerry) Hanson (dec.) in Montreal on September 10, 1949 and was a loving mother to six children: James Albert Hanson of Salmon Arm, John Philip (Anna) Hanson of Edmonton, Gerald Robert (Roma) Hanson of Winnipeg, Christopher Geoffrey Hanson of Winnipeg, Ross David Hanson of Cornwall and Wendy Jean Hanson of Clearwater. Helen loved her country dearly and both travelled and lived from coast to coast - spending time in Melbourne and Montreal, southern and eastern Ontario, Nova Scotia, Manitoba and British Columbia before settling once again in the prairies. Her affection for Canada was exceeded only by her love and devotion to her 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Sarah, Jill, Danny, Pamela, Amber, Heidi, CJ, Jay, Bronwyn, Kieran, Landon, Sienna and Sawyer. Helen's ties with her family were deep rooted, steadfast and unshakable. She was a devoted sister and friend to her siblings: Aline (Bunny) Mills (dec.) of Montreal, Edgar Fee (dec.) of Renfrew, Audrey Blair (dec.) of Williamstown, Jean Murray of Edmonton, Barbara Lawton of Ottawa and Sheila (Don) Hawker of Canmore. Helen will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends...too many to mention here. She was well loved. Mom...the gifts, the lessons, the love and the guidance you have given us are unwavering. You devoted yourself to your family and beyond. You gave of your time and your strength to the end. Your legacy of kindness and compassion will be carried on for generations. We will all miss your special presence in each of our lives. When the heart weeps for what it has lost, the soul laughs for what it has found. Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration of Helen's life will be announced at a later date.
