ANDREA LORI DIXON
Date of Passing: Sep 14, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREA LORI DIXON January 21, 1958 - September 14, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Andrea Dixon on Friday, September 14, 2012 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 54 years. Andrea will be lovingly remembered by her children Carmen and Derek; her brother, Ron (Denise) and her father, Frank as well as many extended family members and friends. Andrea was predeceased by her mother, Doris and her grandmother, Elizabeth Jameson. Andrea enjoyed a long-standing career as a computer programmer with Manitoba Hydro. But, she was most proud of the fact that she was a mother; Carmen and Derek were her world. She attended every hockey and baseball game, took an avid interest in their hobbies, friends and was always there when they needed her. Andrea had an eye for a great bargain, loving to go to garage sale after garage sale when the season hit. She had a wide collection of lamps, vintage perfume bottles and other antiques. She also had a keen sense for deco art; being able to put together a room like no one else. Andrea will be fondly missed for her excitement for life and generous soul that was expressed through the close network of friends that visited her often. Andrea was always there for those who needed her - a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen or to give helpful advice. She will be sorely missed. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and medical staff of 7A West and the 8th floor Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital for all the compassion and support they gave to Andrea during her stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Andrea to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 0V9. In keeping with Andrea's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Home's reception lounge, 680 Archibald Street. I remember telling Andrea about my Christmas Light addiction and shortly afterwards, she somehow found some for me. And by some I mean a garbage bag full! "All for free!" she said. It took me days to sort through them all, but it added greatly to my... collection! Her helpful nature and friendly conversations will be what I miss most. - Posted by: Don Malinowski (Friend) on: Oct 01, 2012

You fought bravely to stay here, and we're all so proud of you, but we know you're in a better place now. You've been a wonderful mother ....you've demonstrated love, compassion, character, integrity, honesty and dedication, and you've taught this all to Carmen and Derek through your gentle spirit. You will be missed by all who know you, and I'm so proud to say that you're my friend. Love always, Geri and family - Posted by: Geri Gray (Friend) on: Sep 19, 2012

I remember the time when we danced in the back yard of the Sandy Hook cottage and found out we were both expecting our babies to be born only 1 month apart from each other. You will be missed by many and I will hold on to the memories we shared..Deb - Posted by: Debbie Meilleur (Friend) on: Sep 18, 2012
