RONALD EDWARD AYRE Ron Ayre, 80 years of age, left us peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Concordia Hospital. He leaves his wife Darlene (nee Helps); son Jeff (Joyann), grandchildren Kaeleigh and Sean; daughter Carolyn (Layne Pennell); sister Beverley Bestland (Cordell); and many special family members and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Bernice Grabowski. Ron worked at the CNR Transcona Shops for over 40 years, with the majority of his time spent as the Electrical Maintenance Foreman. He retired from the railroad in 1990 and spent a number of years working part-time at Rossmere Golf Country Club tending to the flowers and doing odd jobs. He particularly enjoyed attending Kaeleigh and Sean's sporting activities. Ron was an avid walker, each day covering miles of East Kildonan's sidewalks, much to the delight of his doggie' walking partners. Renown to family, friends and neighbours as Mr. Fixit', Ron had the uncanny knack of making the broken work again. A special thank-you goes out to the Emergency Response Team, and the staff of Concordia Hospital in the Emergency Ward, ICU and the 3rd Floor, all of whom treated Ron with patience and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. - 338-0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com

  • We were neighbours for years, and was saddened to learn of Mr. Ayres passing. Just a few years ago one of my sisters came into town and we took a drive passed our old house @ 553...we had a good chuckle, because as we apporoached the house, there was your Dad, standing on the boulevard, tending to his lawn. We stopped and he gave us a quick catch up session on who was still around in the neighbourhood, who had moved on. My condolences to the Ayre Family. - Posted by: Allison aka: one of the "Lynch Girls" (old neightbour) on: Sep 25, 2012

  • Dear Jeff and family I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Clearly your dad was a man who lived a good and full life and set a fine example for his children and grandchildren.
