WILHELM MILLER November 29, 1922 - September 23, 2012 After a lengthy struggle with congestive heart failure, our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather has found eternal peace. Wilhelm Miller was born to Christian and Charlotte Mueller in the small town of Belowesch located near Bachmach, Ukraine. Wilhelm had three sisters: Katerina, Charlotte, Maria and a brother: Conrad, all of whom predeceased Dad. Wilhelm is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Maria, six children: Will (Joan), Henry (Ingrid), Erich, Hanna, Alfred (Barb), and Kurt (Diana), eight grandchildren: Angela, Kristoffer, Shauna (Chris), Jarrod, Karla, Tammy (Greg), Lindsay (Ryan), Taylor, and two great-grandchildren: Drew and Jordin. Dad was predeceased by his son-in-law, Charles Finnbogason. During the Second World War, Dad was conscripted into the German army and despite overwhelming odds, managed to survive the bombardment of Berlin in 1945. After the war, Wilhelm left Germany and farmed near Woodridge, MB until 1957. In 1957, the family moved to Winnipeg where Wilhelm started working for the CNR, ultimately retiring in 1987. Dad and Mom travelled extensively during their retirement. Dad loved being around his large family and especially enjoyed working in his large garden. Dad's living legacy is the skills that he passed on to his children and his grandchildren, most notably the importance of friends, the value of a good education, hard work, and a sense of independence. We love you Dad - we'll miss you, but we'll never forget you. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2012 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Viewing will be held a half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will also follow the service and interment. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the palliative ward, St. Boniface Hospital for their outstanding compassion and assistance given to Wilhelm and his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Wilhelm to the St. Boniface Palliative Care or the charity of one's choice. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Bill & Mary were always there whenever you needed anything. Bill wouldn't listen to anybody about slowing down, but he was always active and polite. He was always thankful for being in Canada. You can't say enough about Bill & Mary. Bill & Mary will never be forgotten in this Family. - Posted by: Glenda & George Czmola (Neighbour across the lane) on: Sep 26, 2012
