Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE JEAN GARCIA (nee POWELL) Alice Jean went peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on September 27, 2012. Alice was a radiant Christian and a loving example to her family and friends. She was born on August 11, 1927 in Jujuy, Argentina to Canadian missionary parents Winfred and Reginald Powell who were serving in northwestern Argentina. She is survived by her loving husband Dr. Ruben Garcia Paganini, her brothers David, Philip, George and Daniel; her children Marcelo (Patricia) their children: Maite, Ivan, Mariel and Nadia; Diana (Tiki) their children: Natalia, Alvaro, Tania and Lara; Paul (Betty) their children: Pablo and Jacko (Tara), great-grandchildren Manuk and Amaya; Leslie (Ruben) their children: Martin, Aileen, Sheila and Danella; Alan (Marisol) and his children Mara and Emily (Alvaro) and step-children Lucia and Tomas; Ian, his children: Tiana and Maren; Jacqueline (Claudio) their children: Gaston and Fiorella and Alison (Travis) their children: Tobias and Shanelle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Eric and her brothers Kenneth and Eric. Alice taught English at the University of Cordoba, Argentina and other Intuitions in that country. She married Ruben on February 13, 1954 and together they raised nine children. Alice loved being a wife, mother, teacher, cook and faithful servant to the Lord Jesus Christ in all places they lived: Toronto (Canada), Santa Fe, Neuquen and Cordoba (Argentina). Ruben and Alice spent their last years travelling between Argentina and Canada. While in Winnipeg they made their home at Meadowood Manor. Alice will always be remembered for her love for Jesus and her family. Family, friends and strangers enjoyed being entertained by her especially at tea time. There was always room for one more at her table. She will be missed by many. A Memorial Service will be held at Meadowood Manor, 577 St. Anne's Road, on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
