JAMIE LYNN RASMUSSEN (MCLEAN)
Date of Passing: Oct 13, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMIE LYNN RASMUSSEN (nee MCLEAN) Jamie Lynn Rasmussen (nee McLean) passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on October 13, 2012. She valiantly fought a long, hard battle of colon cancer with inspirational courage, strength, dignity and grace. Jamie is survived by her husband Blair, of 27 years and her life's greatest gift, son, Lars. When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss Me, But Let me Go! A Celebration of Life will be held at her home in San Diego on Saturday, November 3. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Jamie was my first girlfriend when I was 16...she was 15! That was back in 1979! After all these years I still think of her and just decided to "google" her name...that was today, July 10/14. I am sorry to hear of her passing and my condolences go out to her family especially husband and son. I appreciated knowing her many years ago. She was a pretty, fun and smart girl. I'm sure she was an awesome wife and mother! Sorry to see her life was cut way too short! I will always remember her....Greg Carson of Winnipeg - Posted by: Greg Carson (Boyfriend from the 1970's) on: Jul 10, 2014

Blair and Lars I am so sorry for your loss. Blair we sure had a hard year. First your dad, a great great man who I loved so much. Then your wife, who always made me feel welcome, then your aunt, my grandma. God must have a plan for us all as now he has three great Rasmussens with him in heaven. I remember your wedding at your mom and dads. I was so young, but still remember the love in your eyes. May Jamie rest in peace forever, Cherish the time you had together, and that one great son Lars. My love and deepest sympathy to you both. Her love for you two will only make you stronger. May she rest in peace forever. - Posted by: Cindy Dranez (Cousin ) on: Nov 04, 2012

I first met Jamie when she was 13 years old when I started dating her brother and have had the privilege to become her friend as well as a sister-in-law. I was able to watch her grow from a young teenager to a confident woman who had such a great sense of humor. From our first meeting, it was always fun times with Jamie. She had a talent to make the best out of any situation and seldom complained. Jamie always thought of others before herself and truly loved those close to her. She will be missed!!! - Posted by: Cheryl McLean (Sister-in-law (More like a sister)) on: Oct 25, 2012

Nothing ever prepares us for this moment when we have to say good bye to a friend. Although the sadness will remain for a lifetime, the joy in her memories will gently push aside this sadness, as time heals each and everyone of us. Jamie will always be remembered as being brave, strong and passionate. Even towards the end, Sheila shared with me a funny story Jamie told Logan... Jamie would do this to make everyone feel comfortable, and for a moment, make the people around her forget their sadness. Today, she smiles down on all her family and friends, as she wants everyone to cherish all the great memories, and not dwell on the loss. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. Jamie will truly be missed by all. - Posted by: Becky Morgan (Friend) on: Oct 23, 2012

Jamie was the most beautiful person inside and out. She was a gem, had a heart of gold, treated all with sincerity and kindness. I cherish all our times together as we worked together, built their house in St Andrews, remember Jamie being pregnant with Lars. We had so many great times. and again when re reunited in San Diego, it was like we did not skip a beat. Love you (James) Jamie and will miss you always. - Posted by: Janet Taylor (Friend) on: Oct 23, 2012

I remember when Jamie was born and the first time I held her in my arms. As she matured into a child, teenager and a woman - her smile just became bigger and bigger - she had the biggest and warmest smile ever! Everyone who knew Jamie knew she was the kindest and sweetest person. She always called me called Aunty Elaine and that endeared her even more to me. She was a kind and loving person. My condolences to Blair and Lars and her sisters and brother. I know what a void she will leave in your lives but remember that smile of hers and it will bring a smile to you. - Posted by: Elaine Protano (Aunty) on: Oct 22, 2012

I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear the news about Jamie. I have many fond memories of fun times spend with Jamie and Blair. I remember Cal and I being kidnapped by them out to Plum Coolee. We had a blast that night. I remember when they were building the house on Oakfield Drive and the fun times we had there. I was Jamie's assistant manager at J.Reid Shoes in Kildonan Place and we became very close friends. Jamie was one of the kindest, warm, sincere, people that I have ever met! She always had the nicest smile. My heart goes out to Blair and Lars. I remember what you meant to her way back and know that it only got stronger as the years past. I am so truly sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Laurie Popoff (friend) on: Oct 22, 2012

I'll always cherish the times we had together, especially when we stayed out at the farm about the age of 14ish, middle of no where, when a storm came up it was dark, thunder, lightning two scared girls, and a knock at the door!! I quickly phoned my mom, not that she could save us 25 miles away but at least she'd be on the other end of phone. We were to afraid to answer but the knocking was still there...Jamie finally got the nerve to look out, and it was the goat "Bunter" wanting to come in!! We were so relieved, and still laughed about it!! What a beautiful friend with the most caring heart!! xo - Posted by: Heather Link-Kubas (Friend) on: Oct 20, 2012

My precious sister is now pain free and resting in peace. She will be missed beyond words by her devoted family and many many friends. I can truly say that in this world I don't beleive there are many people that come close to the kindness and concern she showed to everyone that crossed her path. We are lucky to be able to claim her as family! And we'll miss her desperately forever - Posted by: LESLIE CUMMING (sister) on: Oct 20, 2012

My big sister fought a battle so bravely, that would make an army of men seem weak. As hundreds of people could attest, she was the loveliest person one could ever know. She taught me how to be a sister, daughter, wife, mother and friend. I could write a book right now, paying tribute to my big sister, my first best friend. Jamie, I love you so much and I promise to do you proud. Love, WAD xox - Posted by: Sheila McEntire (Baby sister) on: Oct 20, 2012
