EUGENE LYLYK Surrounded with love and strength of his family, Gene peacefully began his new journey on Sunday, October 21, 2012. Gene is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lynn; his three children Tracey (Gary), Jacquie, James (Jennifer), and six precious grandchildren Jessi, Alexis, Sydney, Dannon, James Gene and Jensson. Also left to cherish his memory is his brother Fred (Nadia), and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins including a wide, extended family with many dear friends. Gene was predeceased by his parents Mike and Betty; brothers Alison and Peter; sister Mary, and nephews Floyd, Douglas and Ryan. Gene was born August 24, 1944 at the family farm in Benito, Manitoba. He was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa whose life revolved around his family and friends. He enjoyed large family gatherings, picnicking, fishing, camping, travelling, sports and telling stories to his children and grandchildren. Gene belonged to the Operating Engineer Union with a membership of over 40 years, he was a certified crane operator and his last employer was Able Movers. A celebration of Gene's life will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 200 Dalhousie Drive. We, his family on his behalf, wish to extend our sincerest gratitude to all the supportive physicians who cared so well for Dad including: R. Hayward, J. Koulack, N. Simonsen and S. Armstrong. Many heartfelt thanks and gratitude is extended to the teams of nurses within the Seven Oaks Dialysis Units for their professional services and attention. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.   • I was so happy to see Gene at my book signing in Winnipeg in May, it was so very long since we had seen each other and it was great to see him. I have a photo of him and I at the reading and would like to send it to you. Gene and I and other students were Shirley Koroluk's first class and we will share that bond now and into wherever we go when it's our time.
