LLOYD CHARLES THOMPSON It is with sadness that the family of Lloyd Charles Thompson, beloved husband of Myrna, announce his death occurred on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Lloyd was born September 23, 1938 in Duck Bay, MB. His family moved to Winnipegosis when he was a youngster and he completed his schooling there. In 1956, he started work with the Manitoba Telephone System and spent the next several years working construction as a lineman throughout Manitoba. In 1963, he married the love of his life Myrna (Magnusson). They grew up and attended school together and were fortunate to recently celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary. In 1965, Lloyd accepted a Line Station Installer Repairman position in Russell and remained there for 10 years. They became involved in the community and Lloyd enjoyed playing hockey with the Russell Rams for several seasons. He belonged to the Elks Lodge, coached minor hockey and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He also took up the game of golf which soon became his passion. They enjoyed the years in Russell and formed many lifelong friendships. In 1976, Lloyd transferred to the PBX Department in Brandon. He enjoyed his job, spent several years 5th wheeling and participating in his favourite pastimes. He retired in 1993 after 37 years with the MTS. For the past couple of years Lloyd's health has prevented active participation. He missed his regular golf games at Shilo, however until recently he has looked forward to his daily coffee breaks with his buddies. He is survived by his wife Myrna; sisters and brothers-in-law Joan and Stan Wilson and Mike and Lynda Magnusson and numerous nieces and nephews.
