EDNA PARBERY FRIESEN With very heavy hearts the children of Edna Friesen (Parbery) announce her passing on November 22, 2012. Edna was born in Salisbury, New Brunswick on March 7, 1924. In 1945 she met her beloved husband Arthur Parbery. He brought her to Winnipeg and they married in May of that year. In the first few years of her marriage she worked for the Canadian Wheat Board. She took an early leave to look after her family. Edna was born a caregiver. From her early years of growing up in a foster home to most of her married life with Art and beyond. Her husband took ill at a young age and she spent the next many years tending to him. She raised her two children Gary and Cathy and as well fostered many children over the years. She herself was born an orphan. She was selfless in giving back to other children what she had been given by her adoptive mother Aunt Mary. Surely she changed the path of some these children with her love and kindness. Edna was quite involved in her church parish and spent time as a Sunday School teacher. She love to sing and she loved church hymns. She loved to watch her sports on T.V. and she had a good sense of humour. After Arthur passed away in 1986, she continued to take care of others by volunteering at Park Manor Personal Care Home. In 1990 Edna met and married Abram Friesen. They spent 12 years together until his passing. During this time Edna focused on different joys in her life. She experienced travel and enjoyed to shop. She enjoyed her grandchildren and of course more of her love for music. In 2008 she experienced a decline in her health. It was time for her to retire from her role as a caregiver and let others do for her as she had done for them. She moved into Park Manor Personal Care Home and had resided there until her passing. Edna was predeceased by her first husband Arthur Parbery and her second husband Abram Friesen. She leaves to mourn her son Gary and his wife Suzanne; her daughter Cathy and her husband Alan; her grandchildren Doug and Tim Parbery, and Brenden, Jared and Lauren Willey, and her great-grandson Dante. Edna is also survived by Abe's extended family. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda Street. I have known the strength and love of a beautiful mother and that has made me who I am today. Rest in peace mom Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
