AGNES IDA ROURKE It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Agnes Ida Rourke on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg. Agnes was born October 4, 1934 in Minitonas. Agnes married Sam of Brandon. They were happily married for 45 years. Agnes started working as a teacher in a one room school. She completed her employment as a cashier with Safeway after 25 years of service. She developed many friendships with her fellow employees and customers over her lengthy career. Agnes was very talented in the kitchen, with a sewing machine, crochet hook, and knitting needle. Every student in Heather's primary class would receive new mittens or a touque every Christmas. Agnes's passion to create things continued until her final days. She was still completing projects in her hospital bed during her final days. She always had something she was either starting or finishing. She would only pause long enough to ring her cow bell at her children's or grandchildren's sporting events. Agnes was very generous, caring, and thoughtful. Agnes's family was the joy in her life and she loved spending time with all of them. She dearly missed her husband after he passed away. Agnes's body grew tired of waiting for Sam to return home and she joined him in better place. Agnes was predeceased by her father Roy, mother Tabea, brother Roy, and her husband Oliver Granville Sam 1999. She is survived by three children: Joe (Jackie) of Brandon, Barry (Sandra) of Revelstoke, and Heather (Bob) Julius of Winnipeg; sister Mary (Bill) of Winnipeg, sister Ardyth of Calgary, brother Arthur (Myrna) of Winnipeg, sister Lillian of Prince George, and brother George (Caroline) of Saskatoon, three grandchildren Sam Julius, Emma Julius and Robyn Rourke and numerous other nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Rev. Shannon McCarthy officiated and the family would like to thank her for the wonderful tribute. The family wishes to thank all of the people who have helped them through these difficult times. The family would also like to express their gratitude to George Henderson for his comforting reflections of their mother. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
