Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBBIE BYRNE THOMSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend Robbie Thomson who passed away peacefully at his residence, December 17, 2012 at the age of 58. Robbie will be lovingly remembered by his wife Wendy, their children: Sheila (Steve) Wall, Joseph (Jennifer), grandsons: Noah, Eric, and Owen, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and numerous dear friends; especially Alan Bartley. He was predeceased by his father George, mother Ruth, brother Alfred Danny , father-in-law Charles Stan , and mother-in-law Joyce Blue . Robbie was born and raised in St. James. He was a hard worker who began his working career at the age of 11 to help support his family. He married the love of his life Wendy in 1974. He was a great family man and passed his hard working traits on to his children. Robbie was very proud of his children and never missed an opportunity to tell others about their accomplishments. In 2009 he became a grandfather to Eric and Noah and in 2011 to Owen. His grandsons were the joy of his life. He loved hearing stories about them, talking to them on the phone and playing with them. Poppy and Eric spent a lot of time together playing with his cat Sandra and raising his chickens. Robbie had acquired many talents over the years, building a strong reputation for himself. He was a welder, metal fabricator, journeyman mechanic, long haul transport driver with a spotless driving record, as well as a certified welder instructor. He also had a small engine repair business that he and Wendy operated from their home. There wasn't anything that he could not fix. He enjoyed the simple things in life, including camping and fishing with his family, long walks with his dogs, snowmobile and motorcycle rides, sitting by a bonfire, and tinkering in his garage. Robbie had endured many health problems over the last few years, but he loved life. Through it all, he maintained a positive attitude and never stopped trying. He had a heart of gold and was always there when anybody needed him. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of Robbie's life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg. Due to severe family allergies, a scent free service is requested. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Sure going to miss all the good stories and coffee times. You know when your troubles (mechanical) never seem to have an answer and nothing works, it was always comforting to know when you called Rob he had it fixed before you got off the phone, or when he came over be, it's running before the coffee was poured, Going to miss you kiddo.. - Posted by: ARNIE JACKMAN (FRIEND/ NEIGHBOR) on: Dec 28, 2012

Robbie was a skilled and willing worker. He was always there to help me solve a problem whether it was in Winnipeg or Kenora. I used to tell him that if I had ten men like him I could solve the problems of hunger and poverty in Bangladesh. I am very sad that he is no longer with us and I shall miss him as a friend and helper. - Posted by: Dr. Farid Shariff (Friendshari) on: Dec 20, 2012
