BERNICE EILEEN (LEDOUX) THURSTON
Born: Jun 16, 1917
Date of Passing: Dec 17, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNICE EILEEN (LEDOUX) THURSTON June 16, 1917 - December 17, 2012 The completion of a life journey. Our dear mother passed in her sleep at the Grace Hospital into the next beautiful stage of the spirit. Mom once again was lovingly met and welcomed by her greatly missed, late husband Rusty and sons Reid and Grant. As well as siblings, Winnie, Mary, Bea, Blanche, James, Agnes, Judy, Lucille, and Albert and her parents Andrew and Cordelie Ledoux and so many other dear ones who have gone before. Left to grieve are her loving daughters and sons-in-law: Cheryl Corso (Renato), Tannis Bell (Charles), Bonnie Gerbrandt (Bruce) Wendy Thurston-Werry (Bill), daughter-in-law Marion Thurston, 12 grandchildren, their spouses and partners, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, her dear brother Lorne Ledoux (Marion), sister-in-law Margaret Ledoux and loving cousins Marie Cooper and Lois Kowal. Our mother always made it her mantra to acknowledge the Divine in each person. If they knew better they would do better was the Mya Angelou quote she loved so. Always concerned for the environment she was a firm believer in reduce, reuse, recycle. Mother's joy was her family who in turn so enjoyed her dry sense of humour, love of dancing, music and fun. We were awed by her enormous tenacity, desire to always contribute, be useful and her incredible strength of spirit which stayed with her until the end. Mother worked as a volunteer for over thirty years, giving tirelessly of her time to Alanon Central Services. As per her wishes there will be no funeral. If you desire please make a donation to Winnipeg Harvest or Art City or a charity of your choice. She truly had the heart of a lioness. We will miss her so. Thank you Mom for all that you did for us. Thank you to the emergency and 3rd floor staff of the Grace Hospital for your kind and loving care. A private family interment will follow sometime in the future when her ashes will be buried along side her dear Rusty.

Dear Grandma Thurston - I wish I could have seen you before your passing. You have always been so kind and generous to me, sending cards and subscriptions to Wee Wisdom when I was a child. I hope you are with Grandpa, Uncle Reid, and Uncle Grant, and that you are at peace. Rest, dear Grandmother - you will be missed. - Sarah xo - Posted by: Sarah Griffin (Granddaughter) on: Dec 24, 2012
