THERESA PRETTE (nee TRAVIS) October 7, 1923 - January 6, 2013 Theresa passed away peacefully at Menno Home in Grunthal, Manitoba, with Wayne and Sharon at her side, as well as many family members in spirit, at the age of 89 years. Theresa was born in Duck Mountains, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg as a young woman. She married and raised her family in Kings Park. Theresa worked at the University of Manitoba in food services for over 25 years. Throughout her life, Theresa loved having family and friends around her whether it be a home cooked backyard barbeque or long beautiful days spent at her cottage at Beresford Lake. Theresa was always smiling when she was fishing all year around, ski-dooing with the grandchildren, travelling, bowling and playing many games of canasta with her Labatts Lite in her hand. She embraced the bond in which she shared with her sister Rita. Whether it was talking on the phone, fishing, playing cards, knitting or walking on the beach in Florida. Theresa was predeceased by her husband Stan, mother Victoria and father Steve, brother Bert and his wife Donna, and her niece Michelle Travis. She is survived by her four children Garry (Francine) Prette, Sharon Spinks, Brenda (Brian) Restall and Wayne (Mary) Prette. Grandchildren Nadine, Sonja, Laurie, Kathy, Robyn, Mathew, Travis, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive. Reception to follow. When other friends forsake you, To mother you will return, For all her loving kindness, She asks nothing in return. As we look upon her picture, Sweet memories we recall, Of a face so full of sunshine, And a smile for one and all. Sweet Jesus, take this message, To our dear mother up above; Tell her how we miss her, And give her all our love.
