CATHERINE (KAY) ISABELLA ROBSON On January 4, 2013 Catherine (Kay) Robson, who was born on August 8, 1927, left this world to rejoin her husband Bill whom she shared 52 years of marriage. She was predeceased by her parents James and Betsy Lillie, her brother Jim, her sister Helen and her husband Bill. Her death followed a continual decline in her health. Mourning her death are her children Jim (Donna), Cathy (Edmonton), Linda, and John (Vancouver); her grandchildren Bryan, Chelsea, Kailey and Carly; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews Kay was born and raised in Winnipeg. She attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and it was there that she met Bill while singing in the choir. Kay was raised in the Presbyterian Church but following her marriage to Bill became a member of Knox United Church. During her 85 years on earth Kay was involved in many activities and gave of her time to others. Prior to marriage she was a Cub Scout leader; as a young mother was involved in the Girl Guide program with her girls; as well as teaching Sunday School. Kay was an avid sewer and made many a festive dress for her girls. When she retired from Revenue Canada she continued to keep busy with volunteering with Meals on Wheels, singing with the senior's choir, square dancing and visiting the kids out west. Kay and Bill were avid cruisers and loved to go on a cruise every winter to escape the cold Winnipeg winters. Kay was an avid reader and loved her mystery novels and doing the daily crossword puzzle. Over the years different health issues presented Kay with challenges but for many years she faced them head on and continued to be a strong woman. With the help of her daughter Linda, mom continued to live at home up until the last few months of life. A big thank you to Linda who was there for mom and allowed her to be at home as long as she was. The family would also like to thank the Winnipeg Regional Health Care Home Care and Palliative Home Care program who were also instrumental in mom being able to stay at home for as long as she did - we know sometimes it was challenging for you. Special thanks to the Palliative staff on 3E at the Riverview Health Centre who cared for mom the past few months. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Breast Cancer Research, Heart and Stroke Association of Canada or the Palliative Care Program at Riverview Health Centre. • Dear Cathy So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I know how difficult it is to watch the decline of a parent and eventually lose them. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. Arlene - Posted by: Arlene Whyte (school friend of Cathy) on: Jan 09, 2013

  • My Aunt Kay was the last of the Lillie dynasty in Winnipeg - a line that emanated in 1912. I met her three times - in 1953 when she and her sister Helen visited the UK, in 1961 when I visited Winnipeg, and lastly in 1977 when two unexpected guests (myself and my mother) arrived on Kay and Bill's doorstep late on Christmas Eve. We were greeted with delight and amazement and welcomed and accommodated gladly. Although we were packed off to bed a little early Santa Claus was made well aware of our presence in Winnipeg, and Christmas presents with our names on were under the tree next morning! After that little surprise we were taken all over Winnipeg and treated to three weeks great holiday. That was the sort of person that Kay was - unflappable, organised and welcoming - as is reflected in her career and voluntary work. It is with regret that I was not able to visit her again in her failing years due to my own family circumstances. May she rest in peace, joined again with Bill, her sister Helen, her brother (my father) Jim and her parents James and Betsy. - Posted by: Stuart Lillie (Nephew) on: Jan 09, 2013
