Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY PATRICIA BRESCH (nee GRASSLER) March 17, 1925 January 18, 2013 The family is very sad to announce that Mary passed away on January 18, 2013. Mom was finally called home by God after a valiant struggle displayed with dignity and grace. Her passing was peaceful with her son Geoff and granddaughter Gillian at her side. Mom is predeceased by her husband George and her son Michael. She will be dearly missed by her son Geoff and daughter-in-law Linda, daughter-in-law Brenda (Michael); her sister Ann Krupka (Richard); brother Walter Grassler (Florence). She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Gillian Bresch-Giesbrecht (George), Megan Bresch, Donald Bresch (Ingrid), Andrew Bresch, Lauren Bresch; and great-grandchildren, Katrina Giesbrecht, Landon Giesbrecht, Astrid Bresch-Toews, Beckett Bresch-Toews and Andreas Bresch. Mom is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who were all very important to her. Mary was a feisty outgoing woman who loved entertaining with friends and family, bowling, dancing and travelling. Mary was a memorable person and not easily forgotten by those who met her. There are many fond memories to cherish by her loved ones. Mary always spoke her mind and was sure to have the last word. She was a strong-willed, loving woman with a heart of gold and would do anything for those she loved. Mary was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Elmwood. Mary worked at different office jobs and loved to go out roller skating and dancing. She had many friends, was very outgoing, until she met and married the love of her life, George. Mary then stayed at home and raised two sons, Geoff and Michael. Mary is known for her cooking (awesome perogies and cabbage rolls, except for well-done roast beef) She always shared generously with all who visited. Mary and George loved to go camping, travelling (especially Las Vegas), square dancing, bowling, and going to the casino. Mary was active in the church helping with various activities. Mary travelled to Europe and welcomed families and friends from out of town and made them all feel welcome. Over the years, Mary also was there for family who had special needs and welcomed them to her home from time to time. Family was very important to Mom. Mary and George had 46 happy years together until March 1993, when George passed away. This was very hard for Mary and she struggled for a long time. Then in June 2010, her youngest son Michael passed away, and Mary was devastated. Mary eventually was in need of permanent care and moved to Lions Personal Care Centre. Geoff would like to express his personal thanks to his wife, Linda, who did so much to help care for Mom in her time of need, with so much love and compassion. Mary truly loved you, Linda. Special thanks to Mom's sister, Ann, who helped Mom get settled into Lion's Manor. Personal thanks to Bob and Mary Vollrath and Ann and Irvine Jackson who were frequent visitors and companions to Mom during her time in nursing care. Finally, the family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff at Lion's Personal Care Centre. They cared deeply for Mom and treated her with care and dignity. We cannot express enough our gratitude to the staff. Funeral service will be on Saturday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gerard Parish, 45 Foster Street. Interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Mary's name be made to Lions Personal Care Centre. Geoff - I was very sad to hear of the passing of your mom. I remember her with great fondness as a very kind and forgiving woman. She was an important part of my development as an adolescent and I regarded her as my second mom during those formative years, when I practically lived at your house. May her soul rest peacefully in heaven and may God comfort you and your family through this difficult time. - Posted by: Andrew Jablonski (Friend of family, especially Geoff) on: Jan 26, 2013
