Jean won many awards for her accomplishments and volunteer work such as the Paul Harris Fellow Award, the Mayor's Award, and just recently was presented the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Award. Your mother was such a wonderful person who will be sadly missed. This past summer I got to spend some time with her at the Miss Transcona Reunion. She was her happy jolly self and I am glad that she got to share that time with all of us. We had an amazing time! Her devotion to the pageant was incredible and we appreciated her commitment. Know that she is in a wonderful place watching over all of her family. I feel truly blessed that our paths have crossed. Sending hugs to Kim who I know will miss her Mom dearly. Your Mom was 1 of a kind, may she rest in peace knowing that her life on earth was a blessing to everyone that knew her. God bless all of your family. - Posted by: Belinda Stelmack Metz (Friend) on: Feb 08, 2013

Kim,Dean and family. On behalf of the Transcona Rotary Club and our members, I would like to extend our deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved mother Jean. She was an example to the community of Transcona and exemplified Rotary by her "service above self". I met Jean many years ago as a young Miss Transcona contestant and over these many years followed her community service on various boards, committees and groups. It was apparent that she was not only a loving mother, grandmother and devoted wife to Denny; but she cared about her community . A well deserving receipient of the Paul Harris Award given to individuals that have left a lasting mark on their communities. We will hold you in our thoughts at this most difficult time. - Posted by: Julia Dreger (President Winnipeg Transcona Rotary) on: Feb 01, 2013

I met Jean (& Kim) through thier bridal boutique Second Look, first in 1999 for a formal dress and again 2006 for a bridal gown - I ended up buying two! :) Jean always had a smile, a kind word and made people feel at home in the store, and was always willing to go the extra mile to help someone or help them get whatever they needed if she could. Transcona lost a wonderful woman and a real pillar of the community, and her family has lost a truly loving, cherished Mom and Grandma. We are keeping you all in our hearts and prayers at this time an extend our deepest sympathies. - Posted by: Fred & Christine Nelson Didych (Friend & customer) on: Jan 31, 2013

Kim, Dean & family I am so sorry for your loss. It was just too soon. We have been neighbours for over 35 yrs & I remember our card games on the weekends for many years & we had some great laughs. I also worked with your Mom when she was selling Beauty Counsellor way back when & also with The Miss Transcona Pageant back in the early 80's. She made sure everyone was having a great time. Jean was a people person for sure and it showed in all the lives she touched. She will be greatly missed. God needed her more & she is back with your Dad where they will be watching over you both. Take care of each other RIP Jean - Posted by: Brenda Fontaine (Friends & neighbours) on: Jan 30, 2013
