JACQUELINE (JACKIE) LESLIE SOKO (nee NIEWCROSS) It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Jacqueline Soko who, on Monday, February 4, 2013, lost her short battle with cancer. She fought hard but in the end heaven must have really needed her. She will be lovingly missed by her children: Ali, PJ and Terri; dear friend, Peter and her favourite companion, Toby. Jackie is also survived by her sisters, Lynette Collins, Tannis (Dick) Burnison and family; as well as many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her favourite brother-in-law, Gord Collins, and very special niece, Lisa Collins. Jackie was a kind, loving and amazing mother and best friend; all who knew her and whose lives she touched will miss her greatly. The family extends a very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Patricia Harris and her team at CancerCare as well as the wonderful nurses at the Grace Hospital who showed such kindness and compassion to Jackie. In keeping with Jackie's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of her life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • She was my mother and I never got to say goodbye, she taught me to smile and cry, we enjoyed the rain and thunder storms that we shared together since I was little, I miss her everyday, I would trade anything to have one more second or minute or a breathe with her, I regret the things I never got to say and the things I did, all I can hope for is for the love she gave to me while she was alive. Hopefully she will open her arms to me when I have the pleasure of seeing her again, you still had so much to teach me and you left to soon, I hope there is forgiveness and love one day. My love for you will never die. - Posted by: terri soko (daughter) on: Dec 16, 2019

  • I am so very sad & shocked to hear of Jackie's passing. Jackie & PJ lived five floors above me & I used to ride on the bus with Jackie to work. This is how we met. We became friends right away. I am very disappointed in myself that I did not stay more in touch with Jackie but once I went on disability I hardly ever saw her. This just goes to show you, never let time go by where you don't stay in touch with your friends. I have a lot of regrets about that. I want her family to know she was a wonderful person. I will greatly miss her & I pray that all of you will find the strength you need to get through your loss. - Posted by: Linda (Schoffer) on: Mar 04, 2013
