RUBY PROKOP 1932 - 2013 Ruby Prokop (nee Nuttall) Sadly we announce the passing of Ruby, her family at her side, on Wednesday February 6, 2013, at St. Boniface Hospital. Remaining to cherish her memory are her beloved husband Wally, son Grant (Nancy) Prokop, and daughter Cheryl (Lorne) Repas; grandchildren Neal and Lisa Prokop, Colin, Christopher and Nigel Repas; sister Hazel (Tony) Koks; brothers, Fred Nuttall and George Nuttall; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her parents Fred and Maud Nuttall and sister Pearl Bannister. Ruby was a gentle and kind lady with an amazing strength of character and will. That will was tested over the past years when Mom shouldered her health issues, was always optimistic, never burdening others. She always enjoyed time with family and friends; all can attest to her wonderful cooking and baking. She was especially interested in watching her grandchildren pursue whatever were their chosen endeavours, whether it be music, school, work or sports. Always encouraging and supportive, her grandchildren will remember and cherish her memory. Mom's strong sense of values was never changing and was the foundation for a close family relationship. Born in Winnipeg she had a lifelong interest in music and her Christian faith began at St. Thomas Anglican Church. In 1953, she married her beloved husband Wally and embarked on a railroader's pilgrimage, first to Red Lake Road, Ontario, then to Lintlaw, Saskatchewan, and onto Ochre River and Dauphin, Manitoba. In Dauphin she began teaching violin and working at Manitoba Hydro. These were years Mom fondly remembered. A big city girl with small town values. In 1977, the family moved back to Winnipeg and Mom and Dad joined St. Bartholomew's church. She was active in the church choir and women's auxiliary. Ruby and Wally enjoyed traveling to many places, making friends along the way. Mom was always the guiding light for our family and will be remembered forever in our hearts. Ruby's funeral will be held on Monday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m., St. Bartholomew Anglican Church, 881 Autumnwood Dr., with Rev. Dr. Lee Titterington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruby's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Dear Wally, our deepest deepest sympathy, we just heard of Ruby's passing. She gave it her all and now no more pain. Ruby was the kind of person that made you feel at home, like she knew you a long time, what a gracious lady she was. We will miss her as on several occasions we would meet in Wpg and have a nice get-together. Remember the good times. May she rest in peace and our prayers are with you. - Posted by: Murray and Anne Flynn (friends) on: Feb 11, 2013

Aunty Ruby was a real special person always so thoughtful and generous. We were always treated like "royalty" in her home. I do have a special memory of her when she visited us for a few days before their Alaska cruise. As I was making a fruit salad she taught me how to slice mango properly, something she had learned while travelling Australia. Never too old to learn. She will really be missed. - Posted by: Linda Hedges (niece) on: Feb 11, 2013
