SHEILA BERNICE HILDEBRAND (CURTIS)
Born: Dec 31, 1939
Date of Passing: Feb 21, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHEILA BERNICE HILDEBRAND (nee CURTIS) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Sheila Hildebrand on Thursday, February 21, 2013. She is survived by her son Craig (Jim), daughter-in-law Vicki, grand-children Michael and Sarah, sisters Janice and Adele, brothers Terry and Russell. She was predeceased by her son Curtis, her husband Ben, her parents, and her brother Randy. Sheila was born December 31, 1939 to Jim and Vera Curtis. Raised on the family farm, she was no stranger to hard work and carried that work ethic with her throughout her life. She started her career in banking after completing her education but became a stay at home mother when her son Craig was born in July 1960. Her second son Curtis was born in September 1962. The family lived in Winnipeg until 1966 when they moved to a farm near Crandall, Manitoba owned by her father. They tended the land, its crops and cattle, for three years before moving back to Winnipeg. After settling in the suburb of Transcona, Sheila returned to banking and started work at the local CIBC branch. She worked her way up the ranks within the bank until her retirement making many friends along the way. After retiring, she wasn't content to sit back and relax but found other ways to use her time and energy. She became active in the local gardening society and volunteered at the Park Manor rest home. She and Ben travelled to various places around the world and brought back many stories to share with her friends and family. After Ben passed away in 2010, Sheila became involved with the Transcona Memorial United Church and some of its charity work. She found new friends and renewed old friendships there. She had a positive impact on many people's lives up until her passing. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West with Rev. Carol Fletcher officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sheila's name to Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Weep not for me, I'm free from pain My earthly sufferings are o'er I hope to meet you all again On a peaceful, happy shore. I also worked with Sheila at CIBC St Vital Shopping Centre. We had seen each other a few times in recent years at Retiree functions including a couple of trips to the USA. She was smart and good to work with. - Posted by: Florence Holigroski (co-worker) on: Mar 01, 2013

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Craig and your family. Your children were the apple of grandma's eye. We often traded grandchildren stories. Sheila was a wonderful and giving person. She shared so much of herself with all of us at Park Manor. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. She is with her loving God now and our memories of her will help us all heal. God bless you and your family, Craig, and take care. - Posted by: Bernice Middlestead (Volunteer Coordinator at Park Manor and friend) on: Feb 25, 2013
