Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH PUSZTAY June 13, 1928 - February 24, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a special husband, father and grandfather, Joseph Pusztay, on Sunday, February 24, 2013. He was surrounded by his wife and family as he peacefully slipped away at home, per his wishes. Joseph, Joe, or Papa Joe as he was called in his later years, had been suffering from various ailments for a number of years. His condition worsened steadily over the past two months and became critical in the past three days. By the grace of God his suffering was cut short and he is now at peace. Left to cherish his memory and mourn his passing are his wife of 59 years, Eleonora, daughter Eva (Hartley), Rita (Bryon), Peter (Donna), Monica (Glen) and Beatrice (Bill), grandchildren Jennifer, Sarah and Gregory, sister-in-law Maria (Erno) and several nieces and nephews, as well as extended family in Hungary and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents Jozsef and Margit. Joseph was born and raised in Hungary. He married his wife Eleonora in 1953 and they welcomed the first of their five children in 1954. He earned his Mechanical Engineering degree in Hungary and was employed as an engineer at the time of the Hungarian Revolution. In a bold move, in search of a better life and greater opportunities, he left Hungary with his wife, daughter Eva and sister-in-law Maria and moved to Canada. They settled in Winnipeg and made a wonderful life for their growing family. He earned his Professional Engineer designation and worked at a few companies before being hired by Canadian Tool and Die Ltd., where he worked for the majority of his life, including in a part time consulting capacity after retirement until age 79. Joseph was an avid stamp collector, loved reading, music and everything Disney, and enjoyed the outdoors, particularly his backyard and the vacations he spent with his children at Betula Lake in the Whiteshell. He loved his wife and family dearly and was proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. His greatest joy was spending time surrounded by his family. Many thanks to Dr. S. Thomas and the staff of the Palliative Care program for the care he received and for facilitating his wish to stay at home until the end. Viewing and prayers will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Roman Catholic Church, 365 Burnell St. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Nora and Joe came into my Second Cup cafe in Kildonan Place Mall most Friday mornings. They say they came for the coffee, Joe loved Irish Cream but they stayed for the great conversations that we had. My thoughts are with you Nora. - Posted by: Marnie Kostis (Owner Second Cup Kildonan Place) on: Feb 27, 2013
