ALICE (ALYCE) HOPE MARUCA (nee WALKER) April 19, 1927 - February 23, 2013 Peacefully, in her sleep, on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Park Manor Personal Care Home, Alyce gently slipped into the arms of God, after many years of courageously dealing with ill health. The Family would like to extend their appreciation to all of the compassionate and loving caregivers at Park Manor who strived to make her last year as enjoyable as possible. Alyce is survived by her son, Greg (Susan) Maruca, granddaughter Melanie (James) Winkler, great-grandchildren Carson and Cole; daughter Shawna Maruca (Bill Melnyk), granddaughters Courtney and Janna Rosborough, great-grandchildren Owen, Eric, Ty and Kaiden; her daughter, Lori (Rick) Lind, grandsons Ryan (Shannon) and Kyle (Carrie) Lind, great-granddaughter, Francesca; daughter Deborah (Bob), granddaughter Ashley (Garrett) Parker, and sister, Faye (Lorne) Robbins. She was predeceased by her husband Joe, her parents, Margaret and Thomas, brother Bert and sisters Myrtle and Gertrude. Alyce was born and raised in the Riding Mountain and Neepawa area. She met and married Joe Maruca on August 10, 1950, spending their honeymoon in Banff. They raised their children in Winnipeg, where they remained throughout their lives. Alyce will be honoured by her children, family, acquaintances and friends, with a Celebration of her Life on Saturday, March 2, 2013 (7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Mom was proud of her Irish heritage, so we will be incorporating an Irish theme to the Service to ensure that those Irish eyes will be smiling down on us. We would be pleased if her family, friends and acquaintances could stay for an hour after the service, to enjoy a few hors d'Oeuvres and share in a story, or two, as we Celebrate her Life. The Family would also like to send a Special Thank-You to Jean Goodfellow who would visit her every Friday, bringing Alyce tremendous joy! Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, donations can be made payable to the MS Society c/o Lori Lind's Mass Synergy Team in the Annual MS Walk to End MS (mail to: 50 Spring Meadow Cres., Winnipeg, MB R2C 4H6). Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
