GABRIELLE LAWRIMORE (nee DESHARNAIS) On March 7, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, Gaby passed away peacefully on the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. She was 69 years young and had been battling cancer on and off for over 10 years. Gaby will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her husband Bill Berg of Winnipeg along with their family and friends. Her daughters, Tara and Jennifer, along with their spouses, will forever cherish the love of a wise and wonderful mother who was always so proud of their accomplishments. Her memory will always be alive in the stories told to her five beautiful granddaughters, who were also her pride and joy: Emma, Lauren, Kate, Monica and Emma. She also leaves behind a loving sister, Pat Vince of Welland, along with many nieces, nephews and friends all over Canada. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Gaby would like to know that her warmth, caring and giving nature could live on through donations made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or the Breast Cancer Society of Canada so that others may also benefit from the tremendous care she herself received over the years. A very special thank-you to all the family, friends, neighbours, physicians, nurses, aides, etc. who made her last moments as comfortable, peaceful and dignified as can be at home and on the Palliative Care Unit; you are forever in our hearts. A celebration of Gaby's life will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at the E.J. Coutu Co. Funeral Home, located at 680 Archibald Street in Winnipeg. Cremation will then take place after the service with a memorial to follow in Welland, ON, her birthplace and home of many years, later this spring. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. • Gaby and I worked at Atlas Steels and became good friends many years ago. After she moved to Winnipeg, we kept in touch by phone, letters, and cards and whenever she came back to Welland, we always got together. I talked to her on the phone the Thursday night before she passed on. I will miss our telephone conversations but I am relieved that she is free from pain now. - Posted by: Kathy Young (Friend from Welland) on: Mar 10, 2013

  • Dear Tara, Jennifer, & Bill - I have and will miss my loving friend, co-worker and especially the sound of her voice. I spoke with Gaby every few days and for the last time Friday Feb. 22 from Florida. She sounded cheerful that day, & happy that I was having a good time. I do think that was her way of saying farewell to me. Tara & Jennifer were the love of her life. I will always remember our days in the Purchasing Dept. together. Pat, Dave & Anna will remember how you welcomed them into your home in the summer of 2006. Rest in peace my dear friend. With all our love.
