Hearing how caring Jo-Anne is and knowing of her good work from others, not being able to attend Benny's funeral, let me just mention I noticed in words about Benny that he worked 25 years with the DEW line and his passion was being a Chef. I can mention that both in the late 60's and then later 70's I was involved in the supply and operations of the DEW line. I might have even met Benny back then (just met only Jo-Anne briefly lately), but one thing for sure, the word I heard from numerous sources, many times back then was "get to the DEW line for their food is fantastic". It is these un-sung heroes like Benny that did so very much for us in many ways that we hear so little about, so often. If I kept hearing of the cooking at the DEW line I can now see who contributed to something that was extremely important to each Canadian and seldom known. The Canadian and US service men and women serving DEW line played a vital role while being extremely isolated and good and tasty food would have been far more important to them than one might even imagine. Benny - thanks for a job well done - honour to you ! My sincere condolences to Jo-Anne and all close friends and family. George - Posted by: George S.
