BILL (WILLIAM) HRABI
Born: Dec 18, 1942
Date of Passing: Mar 28, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBILL (WILLIAM) HRABI December 18, 1942 - March 28, 2013 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Bill Hrabi. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Iris; his daughters Grace McPhillips (Kevin McPhillips) and Colleen Hrabi (Owen Hanson) and his grandson Arlo Hanson. Bill also leaves behind many amazing lifelong friends who we thank for visiting him over the last few months. Bill had an enthusiasm for life surpassed by nobody. He was always up for an adventure and busy planning our next family trip. Some of his favourite times were spent playing badminton at the Wellness Centre, going to garage sales at Winnipeg Beach with his daughters and friends and discovering new restaurants around the City. Above all else, Bill loved spending time with his family. He was overjoyed when his grandson, Arlo, joined the family this past year and he spent every minute he could with him. A special thanks to Dr. Pat Harris, Rejanne Dorge and the wonderful Staff at Concordia CancerCare. A celebration of Bill's life will take place in the coming weeks. Date and location to follow. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you do something nice for someone else. Bill was always showing up with surprises wherever he went, even for people that he barely knew. Please help us keep his memory alive by continuing this tradition. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

I remember Bill coming to my yard sales. Bill was always friendly and chatting away. My two boys used to play with his girls when they were school age. I just found out today, at the cottage, that he had passed away. I am truly sorry for the family. I will miss him. Filomena - Posted by: Filomena and Bruce Donaldson (Neighbor ) on: Oct 08, 2017

Met Bill in the 1966 at Western Grocers and bumped into him off and on over the years. Stumbled on this obituary so many years after his passing. I am so sorry to hear that he is gone. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Terry Robert () on: Sep 13, 2017

We just heard of Bill's passing and although we haven't seen him for a while, he has always been in our hearts and memories. Bill decorated the Church for our Christmas Wedding ten years ago. I still remember his joy and fantastic sense of humour while working so diligently! He had great talent!!! We will always remember him, especially while we decorate the Church during Christmas and Easter... - Posted by: Jeff & Marietta DiNella (Friends) on: Aug 10, 2013

Carol and I are so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We both knew Bill from the North YMCA back in the 60's. He was an amazing person then and over the years I have run into him at different times. He was always cheerful and full of life. Our condolences go out to Iris and the daughters. As another person said, we need more people like Bill in this world. - Posted by: Doug & Carol Boulay (friends) on: Apr 16, 2013

I have known Bill since the 60s. Met him through family. Bill was an outstanding networker. He would just show up once in a while, usually with news about people I didn't know he knew. But he seemed to know everyone. He directed people to me who he thought could help my business. My thoughts are with Iris and the girls. - Posted by: AL HOLMES (ACQUAINTANCE) on: Apr 12, 2013

Bill and I met at the Winnipeg Canoe Club in 1964 and became fast friends, traveling to Mexico, weekends at the beach, and many social events. He was always a great social person and will be missed by us and his many friends. - Posted by: George & Barbara Creek (Longtime friends) on: Apr 07, 2013

Bill and I worked together at Western Grocers in the late 60's and 70's. We sat across from one another at the communal desks we had then. Bill was also a member of my wedding party. We spent many evenings together at the Winnipeg Canoe Club and I enjoyed his company very much. Bill was always ready to help someone and was an understanding friend when my first marriage fell apart. He was there when I needed him. Over the years we grew apart and when I moved to Ottawa we lost contact. I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He will be missed. - Posted by: Garry McDougall (Friend) on: Apr 07, 2013

Dear Iris and family, we are so sorry to read in today's paper about Bill. Everyone knew him here as he crossed our paths in different ways, whether it was at a yard sale, bingo or even at the grocery store he always had a moment to stop and chat. We will do something nice for someone and it will be a stranger. His surprise to us was a year past he was at our door with a beautiful Christmas arrangement. We will sure miss his smiling face.
