DONALD SWIFT It is with sadness, that we announce the passing of John Donald Rushworth Swift late Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2013 at Victoria Hospital, in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Marcia Swift and loving father of Burton of Westholme, British Columbia and daughter Merrill of Winnipeg. Dear grandfather of Denny and Taylor and special father-in-law of Roy McMillan. Proud papa of his extended family members, Cindy (Kane), Krista, Nikki (Alexys), Mike and family. Cherished life-long friend and Thursday evening dinner partner Bill Beales and numerous other treasured friends and neighbours who also considered pops as family. A stand-up chest-out man, dad enlisted in the Second World War hoping to fly. He was disappointed that his poor vision kept him grounded but appreciated in later life that being on terra firma overseas is what enabled him to come home, marry mum and eventually raise a family. Dad was always a gentleman who believed in hard work and honesty. He was incredibly dependable, an avid reader and someone who never passed up the opportunity for an ice-cream. "We are your legacy dad, and will miss you dearly" Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Reception to follow. Interment will take place following the reception at St. Vital Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Klym for her many years of great care and friendship.
