JOHN THOMAS HATHERLY February 14, 1926 - April 24, 2013 Peacefully, on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Concordia Hospital, John Hatherly passed away at the age 87 years. John was predeceased by his parents and brother, as well as many other family members. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Vi, numerous nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Iona Boutet and family, Emerson, MB. He was born and raised on the Marais (Lettelier area) Manitoba. At the age of 18 he joined the Navy until the end of the Second World War. After the war he returned to Edmonton where he worked for eight years at Woodsworth Department Store. He then moved to Winnipeg where he was employed by the Hudson Bay Company until he retired. John met Lily Violet Kasper in 1952 and was married March 7, 1953. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street with Deacon Kris Taylor officiating. Interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of Concordia Intensive Care Unit for the care and compassion that John was given. Also a thank you to all the friends and family that have shown support over this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John to the Faith Lutheran Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
