MYRTLE CAROLINE GORDON (nee ROSTAD) March 4, 1913 May 12, 2013 Peacefully, on May 12, 2013, our beloved Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away with her devoted family by her side. Myrtle was predeceased by her husband Harry on December 30, 1987 and son-in-law Jon on March 2, 1996, as well as her parents, two sisters and one brother. She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Carol, Dennis (Linda), Ted (Mary), Sandi and daughters-in-law Sandra and Rachelle, grandchildren; David, Karen, Leslie (Cam), Jim, Lisa, Sean (Wanda), Jennifer (James), Laura (Billy), and great-grandchildren; Courtney, Leah, Jordan, Robyn, Alex, Kianna, Nolan, MacKenzie, Billy, Hanna, Justine, Helana and Ava. As well as her beloved cat Bingo. Myrtle spent her whole life caring for others. Most of her childhood and into her young adult years she looked after her ailing mother, then raised four children and helped care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After retiring from T. Eaton Co., where she was well liked by her customers, she continued to care give as a Home Care worker. She was a selfless woman who always gave to others. Several generations have enjoyed endless summers at Grand Beach staying in the family cottage built by Myrtle and Harry. We thank you for the fond memories! As an extremely independent woman, Myrtle lived on her own right up until the end of 2012. She celebrated her 100th birthday on March 4, where she enjoyed the incredible milestone with friends and family. Her health started to decline shortly after. A celebration of Myrtle's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. with interment at St. Vital Cemetery. Reception to follow at Glen Lawn Reception Centre. We are grateful to have had her in our lives for so many years. We love you forever Mom, Grandma, Nana! The family would like to thank Misericordia Health Centre and Vista Park Lodge for the care they provided in the last few months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Myrtle to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • To all the families, Auntie Myrtle will be missed dearly. I have nothing but fond memories of her. My first recollection is going to Eaton's ladies wear with my mom and Grandma to get a quick visit or lunch date with Auntie Myrtle. She always made a fuss over us and was always ready to dish back my teasing in the later years. I will miss her but she is in a good place with good company. • To all the family and friends, we will miss her dear sweet voice and lovingly big heart! My family are thinking of you all today...Auntie Myrtle and my Dad were quite close growing up....the last time they were together was at Auntie Myrtle's 90th birthday bash...which unfortunately was only 2 months before my Dad passed. However, I'm so glad that they were able to visit with one another at that time. To be able to make it to your 100th birthday was so spectacular. You looked beautiful and strong on that day as everyone can see by the picture posted today which is from your 100th birthday party. To Auntie Myrtle ! 100 strong, vibrant years ! Rest now, til we meet again… - Posted by: Janet Peterson (She was my Dad's (Ed Peterson) Auntie Myrtle, so she was my Great Auntie Myrtle !) on: May 15, 2013
