LORRAINE GATIN (nee TROTTIER) January 19, 1938 - May 13, 2013 Lorraine Gatin peacefully passed away in the presence of her husband and two sons after a brief but, courageous fight with cancer at St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, May 13, 2013. Lorraine will be fondly remembered by husband, Maurice and her children, Sean (Kimberly) Gatin and Dean (Cathy) Gatin, grandchildren, Stefanie, Hillary, Cassidy and Sara; brothers-in-law, Ovila Boulet and Cliff Wiebe and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Germaine Petit, and sisters, Flurette Capon, Dorothy Wiebe and Orise Boulet. Lorraine was born in 1938 in Greenway, Manitoba. She lived and was educated in Mariapolis, Manitoba. At the age of 17, she moved to Winnipeg with her mom and sister where she began working at the St. Boniface Hospital. She worked there until 1973 when her second son was born. Her greatest source of pride and joy came from her granddaughters. She loved to play games of chance and spend time with her family and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff on 4B at the St. Boniface Hospital for the care and compassion given to Lorraine during her time there. Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald, St. Boniface. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Lorraine to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, www.cancercare.mb.ca. Lorraine will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
