MICHELLE FISHER (nee GENEST) May 23, 1966 - June 15, 2013 Peacefully, with her family by her side, Michelle passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on June 15, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Michelle will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 24 years, Brad; children Kayla (David) and Christine (Amol); her parents Rogeanne and Paul Genest; sister Lianne Wiebe (Heath); father-in-law Ron Fisher; brother-in-law Bruce (Patty); sister-in-law Susan; nieces and nephews: Scott, Travis, Taylor, Tristan and Taylor. Michelle was predeceased by her mother-in-law Gwen Fisher in 1998. Born on May 23, 1966, Michelle grew up in Winnipeg and married Brad in 1988. They had two beautiful children: Kayla and Christine. They were her greatest pride and joy. As a family, they enjoyed attending sporting events, concerts and theatrical productions. Michelle cherished Sunday mornings, enjoying music and conversation with her family. Their home was filled with so much love and laughter. Michelle loved sewing, scrapbooking, reading, gardening and most of all travelling with her family. She loved cruises and was able to visit so many new places, but New York City was always her favourite destination. Michelle began her work career in the hospitality industry. After the birth of Christine, Michelle was a stay at home mom opening her own daycare, touching the lives of many. Upon her return to the workforce, she was employed by the City of Winnipeg and recently moved on to Health Canada. Throughout her busy lifestyle, she continued to actively volunteer within the community. Throughout her illness, Michelle was grateful for the care she received from the Oncology Units and St. Boniface and Victoria General Hospitals. The family recognizes with gratitude the care Michelle received from the team in Palliative Care at home and at the St. Boniface Hospital. At Michelle's request, a celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
