ROY HENRY WHITESIDE March 14, 1950 - June 17, 2013 It is with great sadness and deep sorrow, that we announce the passing of a beloved, husband, father, friend and most of all PAPA. Roy will be deeply missed by his loving wife Judy, brother Ken, his children: Wendy (Wayne), Carol-Ann (Ron), Tricia (Dave), Randy (Tara), his grandchildren: Michael (Emily), Christopher (Lyn), Mitchell (Faye), Daniel (Ashley), Molly, Cody, Amanda, Brooke, Kyle, Aiden, Conor, and his great-grandchildren Madden and the new little one on the way. Roy was predeceased by his parents: Tom and Alma Whiteside. Roy was an amazing man to all that knew him. He grew up working in his family business, Whitey's Garage for a number of years, and helping out with the Shriners vehicles for their parades. He ran the Manitoba Yacht Club from 1981 to 1983, before moving on to work for the Gordon Hotels in Lynn Lake, Manitoba. Deciding to take the big jump he purchased the hotel and will now be known to everyone forever as the Lynn Inn (Crazy Horse). Roy and his wife, Judy owned and worked the Lynn Inn for 27 years, until their retirement in 2011, returning home to family and friends. Unfortunately things didn't quite go as planned and Cancer made it presence known. Roy was a brave, strong man who fought very hard to stay with his family which he believed was his greatest achievement. Roy will be missed greatly for his loving heart, wisdom, sense of humour and life stories. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m., Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. We wish to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff who came to the home and at St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Roy to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

I first met ROY through the operations of Whitey's Garage and quickly forged a strong friendship with him and his family. He was a gentleman in all manners of the term and someone who could be relied upon for any kind of support or assistance. Dear Judy, Ken & family. My mom (Orma Agar) advised me this morning of Roy's passing. We have very good memories of the Whiteside family. As I was 6 years younger than Roy-had a crush on him and his friends! My thoughts are with you all at this sad time. Most Sincerely, Orma Agar & family - Posted by: Gayle Hassett (Next door neighbour on Garfield St) on: Jun 22, 2013
