EDNA TIMLICK June 19, 1934 - June 20, 2013 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our mother Edna on June 20, 2013. She battled several health issues in her final few months, including heart disease and pneumonia, prior to her passing. Edna was born and raised in Winnipeg where she grew up as part of a family of four sisters and one brother. Edna later married and raised two sons. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Mark, his wife Colleen and their two children Cathleen and Steven, her son Jim and his partner Carol, her sister Alice, niece Linda, nephews Larry and Daryl and numerous extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her close companion Hugh Devion, who was a wonderful source of friendship and support in her latter years. Family and friends were always a central part of Edna's life and there was nothing she enjoyed more than sharing a meal or conversation with those she was close to. Edna had an uncanny ability to quickly establish friendships with people that were previously unknown to her. Nowhere was this more evident than in the workplace, where her many co-workers became like a second family to her. Edna spent most of her professional career in the retail sector at everywhere from Eaton's to Winnipeg Supply and Canadian Tire. She later operated her own home daycare which provided her with an opportunity to connect with dozens of children and their families. Retirement allowed Edna to pursue a number of interests, most notably a passion for bowling. She was an avid five-pin bowler until shortly before her passing. A celebration of Edna's life will be held Wednesday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson in the Park, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. A reception for family and friends will follow. The family would like to thanks the staff at Grace and St. Boniface hospitals for the wonderful care they provided to Edna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Sorry for your loss. Edna and our parents Olive and George Watson had a special friendship and spent many happy times together while living at the Courts of St. James. Edna enjoyed playing cards with the ladies, dropping in for tea and was included in some of our family dinners. After our father passed away Edna was a good friend and support to our mother. Our sympathy to your family. The Watson/Hurley/Frohwerk Families - Posted by: Watson Family (Bob & Gwen Watson, Susan & Terry Hurley, Jan & Dennis Frohwerk) () on: Jun 26, 2013

  • Condolences to your families on the passing of your Mom. I also met Edna through my Uncle Babe (Hughie Devion). We got to know Edna through family gatherings and always enjoyed her company. She was a very sweet lady and I will always remember her big smile along with that little giggle she always had in her voice! Sincerely, Linda Bowles & family - Posted by: Linda Bowles (Friend) on: Jun 26, 2013

  • Your mother was a very big part of our family when our children were young and I am saddened to learn of her passing. Every day that I left our children in her care I knew they were safe, well fed and loved. Our children are 25 and 22 now, and she would be proud of the adults they have become. I will cherish the many fond memories I have of picking the children up at your mother's house. Often I had to drag them out of there, because they wanted just one more ride on the toy horse. Your mother was a treasure - a working mother's godsend. - Posted by: Gloria Christie () on: Jun 25, 2013

  • So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. We met your Mom through Hughie Devion (Hughie was my husband's Uncle) about 9 years ago. We loved having her over for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas dinners. She was always so bubbly and loved to talk to everyone. She was a terrific lady and certainly loved to laugh. Edna we will miss you however never forget you. May you rest in peace.
