EVA PROCNER (RUCKI)
Born: Nov 08, 1927
Date of Passing: Jul 01, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA PROCNER (nee RUCKI) Peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Park Manor Personal Care Home, Eva Procner, at the age of 85 years. Eva is survived by her daughter Susan, son George, sister Anne Moroz (Paul), brother-in-law Don Eckstein of Calgary, nephew Mark Eckstein and family of Calgary, her extended family in Winnipeg and relatives in Europe. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, sister Helen (Eckstein), and parents Adam and Eva Rucki. Eva was born in Jablunkov, Silesia, Czechoslovakia on November 8, 1927. She and her family came to Canada in 1937, settling in the farming community of Gunton. In 1945, like many other country girls, she moved to Winnipeg, in part, to help support the efforts at home. She was employed by Weidman Brothers and later Christie Biscuits. Eva's focus in life was still very much directed to her family who, in 1949, had relocated to a farm north of Stonewall. Many weekends were spent helping her parents and siblings with the demands of the family farm. In 1950, she met the love of her life, Joe. They married in 1951. Daughter Susan was born in 1952, followed by son George in 1955. In 1961, the family moved from their first home in St. Vital to Kildare Avenue West in Transcona so Joe could be closer to his work at the C.N.R. Eva also went back to work as the children got older and was employed by Eaton's Mail Order and then the Baked Goods Department. Joe and Eva moved to Rosseau Avenue West in 1984. A number of years after Joe's death, Eva relocated to Park Manor and spent nine plus years there until her passing. Eva was a loving wife, nurturing mother and tireless worker. She was a long time member of Christ Memorial and Good Shepherd Lutheran Churches, where she was a member of the L.W.M.L. and taught Sunday and Vacation Bible School. She loved to cook, bake, garden and read. Memorable to this day were the large family dinners that she helped organize with friends and family and were attended by the Procner(s), Rucki, Moroz, Eckstein, and Pastucha families. Eva would always help anyone in need and was generous with her time, emotional and financial support. She had a great big heart. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the entire staff of Park Manor Personal Care Home for the compassionate care and support during Eva's final week as well as the nine plus years that she was a resident of the Home. Respecting Eva's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Ave. West, Winnipeg, Pastor Harold Borchardt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or Arthritis Society in memory of Eva. My mother. My friend. I'll miss that beautiful smile. You'll always be in my heart.

It seemed like a long walk from Mcmeans back then and when pressed we could finally get dad to drive. Paul's car was there, as was Franks, parked along Kildare. The kitchen oven glowing, alway a warm welcome. Eva would have her apron on, bustling around the counter, but made the time to take our coats. Soon the celebratory dinner would be served. Those colorful board games were waiting our engagement, but as evening progressed it was the lively discussions around dessert that drew our attention. The elders we could listen to with intent, to be able to see the gestures that were of so much interest. A simple laugh and warm smile from Eva that would come to quell the storm. It would come with simple words that still provide me with comfort, "more crumb cake, with plum?" Eva meant so much to us and her memory will in time become more endearing to our family, with love, Family Pastucha - Posted by: Roman Pastucha (Friend) on: Jul 15, 2013
