MARY SHUTKA On Thursday, July 4, 2013, Mary Shutka passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital at age 85. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Alexandra. Also surviving is her sister Helen Cottick of Dauphin, Manitoba, sister-in-law Catherine Dzisiak of Sarnia, Ontario, as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Alex in 2012, her parents John and Mary Dzisiak, brothers Mike, Bill, Metro, Peter, George and infant brother Nick Dzisiak, sisters Anne Shevy and Nellie Carson, brothersin-law Mike Shevy, Melvin Carson and Joe Cottick, and sister-in-law Tina Dzisiak. Mary was born and raised in Ethelbert, Manitoba. She left the farm and moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Alex in 1953 and together they operated a market garden business in North Kildonan until 1977 when they then moved and settled in St. Boniface. She liked her home and yard. She loved to cook and take care of her plants in her garden which gave her many hours of enjoyment and peace. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion Street with Rev. Fr. John Mostivsky officiating. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. She will be sadly missed and live in our hearts forever.
