Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

Our memories and good times go back so many years. It started when we first met when I saw you helping out in your dad's bicycle shop on Portage Ave. We later continued our friendship as students at St. James Collegiate. Many of our "adventures" probably taxed the patience of our teachers. Our days of playing hooky looking at trains and Steam Engines in the rail yards of Winnipeg were finally found out by a teacher who figured out what we were up to. We had many car trips, first with your family in your dad's old Studebaker then in my old '39 Plymouth to the wilds of eastern Manitoba and the Red Lake District of North Western Ontario. We also drove to the New York World's Fair in 1964 in my old '40 Dodge. We survived the streets of New York City and saw the sites of the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. On our way home through Pennsylvania we experienced our first visit to a McDonald's Restaurant and their 15 cent hamburger. We then stopped in South Bend, Indiana to see where the Studebaker car was made and see a place where just about everyone drove a Studebaker. Our lives diverged in later years. You met, fell in love with Annie. Later we both found ourselves married to our present spouses and started our own families. We were separated geographically but always kept in contact with each other. In our retirement years we still got together periodically to talk about new events and old times. Till we meet again, goodbye my long and faithful friend. - Posted by: Bob Richmond (Friend) on: Jul 24, 2013

We remember the family times we shared over all the years. Your hospitality when we visited from Burlington was much appreciated. Remember you came with me to by my beetle VW in 1964 and I was afraid to drive it out of the dealership although I had a license and it was paid for! God knows when we will meet again -we are all about the same age. I will often think of you and your family. Love Bernice - Posted by: Bernice Palmer (Sister-in-law) on: Jul 22, 2013
