KAY PLANTE (nee GUSTA) Kay passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the age of 94 years. During her long life, not only was she a devoted wife, mother and sister, she was fondly referred to as Auntie Kay' by many nieces and nephews from both the Gusta and Plante families and affectionately called Grandma Kay' by the Gannon and Younger families. She will be missed by her many dear friends from St. Alphonsus Parish and Concordia Village. Kay had a very creative side, which she demonstrated through her sewing, knitting and crocheting. It was her commitment to family and friends, her extensive working career and her volunteering for St. Alphonsus School that inspired us and we can only hope to emulate her intelligence, strength, determination and appreciation for life. A special thank you to Frances, Pete and Christine for their extraordinary help and support to Kay and her daughter Dianne, son-in-law Jim and grandson Jason. In keeping with Kay's wishes, there will be a funeral mass at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 341 Munroe at Brazier on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow at the Parish Hall. Interment at St. Boniface Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Alphonsus School, 343 Munroe Avenue would be appreciated. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. The last time I saw your Mom, we had a lovely chat.....she told me to live life to it's fullest......have fun:) I'm going to try to do that, just a little harder now..... - Posted by: Karen Manitowich (Neice) on: Aug 22, 2013

  • Dianne, Condolences on the passing of your mom- and celebration of a life well lived. I have memories of our families getting together when we were young, the card games punctuated by your mom's contagious laugh. It always seemed such a nice story that a childhood friendship of our Dad's became a solid friendship and support between our mom's when they were on their own. She had such a positive outlook that I always enjoyed her calls to keep in touch with my mom. Sorry I could not get to the service but I wanted to say hello and send wishes on behalf of all of us. • My deepest heartfelt sympathy to you Diane, and to "Aunty" Fran and "Uncle" Pete and all your families on the loss of your Mom/Aunty. I had the pleasure of knowing your Mom throughout the years and always enjoyed her smiles, her generosity, her baking...especially her apple and raisin bars. Whenever I was in Winnipeg visiting my Mom, at Concordia Place, I always stopped by for a visit & gave her a hug and my love. Earlier this year, when I visited, we chatted and reminisced about the CWL and all the bake sales she contributed to, shared some tears and laughs and hugs. May your many memories help ease your sorrow. She was a very special lady and will be missed by many, especially my Mom, her neighbour Bernice. Sending my love and prayers to all, Theresa - Posted by: Theresa Joss-Bilous (Friend and fellow parishioner of St. Alphonsus) on: Aug 13, 2013

  • Dianne & Family - My deepest sympathy on the passing of Auntie Kay. The last time I saw her was at a family "cousin's get-together" a couple of years back, and I still admired the presence she had when she walked into a room. She was a very sharp, intelligent lady. Of note, no one could make a Flapper Pie like she did... - Posted by: Donna Mock (Gusta) (niece) on: Aug 13, 2013
