LEON LAURENDEAU Léon Laurendeau, 75, beloved husband of Lucie (DéGagné), of Sainte Anne, Manitoba, succumbed to pulmonary fibrosis on August 11, 2013. Léon spent most of his life in St. Norbert, Manitoba, where he grew up and raised his family. Whether in St. Norbert, Kenora or St. Anne he was a valued member of the community, well liked and appreciated. As well as his wife Lucie, he leaves behind his cherished children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as eleven brothers and sisters, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. His immediate family includes Gisèle (husband Michel Bazin, children Stéfane, wife Marie Morvan (Joel and Alyxe), Christian, Patrick and Loic), Diane (husband Ron DeBattista, children André and Justin), Nicole (husband René Déquier, children Karine, Jean-Marc, Mylène and Danèle), Roger, Rachel (husband Colin Szewaga, children Xavier and expected baby). Right up to the end it was his greatest joy to kid around and make those around him laugh and be happy. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Paul de Moissac and Dr. Patrick Fredette as well as all the members of St. Anne Hospital for their dedication and effort to provide quality care for the last month of Léon's life. Léon's family will honour him on August 19 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church, 162 Centrale Avenue, St. Anne, Manitoba. This homage will be followed by the funeral mass. Memorial donations may be made in Léon's name to the St. Anne Hospital. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • Leon always had a positive attitude about everything. Every time we saw him walking up the hill toward our cottage, we knew we were going to have some fun. He had an incredible sense of humor and always made the people around him feel comfortable and welcome. We are very saddened to learn of his passing and offer his beloved family our heartfelt condolences. - Posted by: Gene and Ollie Dunn (Friend) on: Sep 07, 2013

  • I will miss my very favourite client. It was an honour and a blessing to be the one he chose to help him along the journey. Making him feel at peace, and relaxing his body, mind, and soul through massage and Reiki will be a cherished memory for me. So long my friend. - Posted by: Raylene Snow (Massage therapist and Reiki Master) on: Aug 24, 2013

  • Lucie and family - we are truly sorry to hear of Leon's passing. Mom and Borden have shared with us a couple of stories of the closeness and strength within your family. - Posted by: Lori and Kevin Morawecki (family friends) on: Aug 19, 2013

  • My sympathies to Lucie and family. I could not agree more with the comment that "it was his greatest joy to kid around and make those around him laugh and be happy". I found him to be a fantastic person to work with. Leon was never one to quibble over who was responsible to get a job done, his attitude was always "what can I do to help get it done?". And he was always making work seem like it was so easy to accomplish with happy chatter and and a finished product that one could be proud of. It was an honour to know and work with Leon. He made this world a better place and he will be missed. - Posted by: Steve Tomchuk (friend) on: Aug 19, 2013
