CHRISTINA ANDERSON
Date of Passing: Aug 21, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTINA ANDERSON With broken hearts we announce the passing of Christina (Tina) Anderson on August 21, 2013, at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband Jim; parents Fred and Elsie; siblings Nick, an infant sister, Irene, Paul and Peter; in-laws Len and Margaret; and cousin David. Mom has been the cornerstone of our family - always a key part of all the ups, downs and everything in between in the lives of her much-loved children Beverley (Pat), Harvey (Deb) and Nancy; so very proud of her grandchildren Courtney (Jaclyn), Drew (Chasity), Paige and Quinn and the way they have grown into fine adults; and so blessed to be a Baba to her great-grandchildren Stella and Charlotte. Mom considered herself lucky to have her younger brother Bill and her cousin Jean-Marie close by as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom and Dad had a wonderful 56 year marriage. Their romance started in the 1940's in a little café and remained true and strong while they rode out some tough times and had the fun and pleasure of many great experiences. Dad's work as a Boilermaker gave our family the chance to live in a number of different communities such as Silver Falls, Atikokan, Thunder Bay, Dryden and finally Winnipeg. Life-long friends were made in each of these stops as well as in Alonsa and Portage la Prairie. After Dad died in 2003, Mom continued to live in their home for a couple of years before moving into Dakota House. Her decision to move was brilliant as her new home gave her another community and led to many warm friendships with people such as Les and Jean and most importantly her very dear friend Noreen. Mom looked forward to the entertainment in the evenings, excursions to the casino and the mall and to the special event dinners. Without a doubt her favourite thing to do was to sit on the swing on her balcony that overlooked the main entrance. We would like to thank all the staff at Dakota House and in particular Peter, Liz and Jennifer. Up until a year ago there was not much that slowed Mom down. She continued to make her fabulous garlic-burgers', cabbage rolls, perogies and other great food for family dinners. She loved to visit Royal Lake and sit by the bonfire or on the dock or go for a ride on the pontoon. The last year saw many challenges to Mom's health and a number of stays in the hospital, but she never lost her positive outlook and continued to look forward to her time with family and friends. We are especially grateful for the truly amazing care she received from all of the medical and non-medical staff who work in the 5 North Unit of the Victoria Hospital. Each of you treated our Mom with respect and compassion. You made a very difficult time much more manageable for our whole family - thank you so very much. A gathering of friends and family will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers please take the opportunity to carry out a random act of kindness and, when you do, please think of this amazing woman. We will always hold her close in our hearts. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

I was lucky enough to meet this special lady at the many of parties hosted by Deb and Harve. She made us laugh many years ago when she mistook our son Darrel for Courtney. She will be missed but remembered for her radiant smile. - Posted by: Suzanne Houlind (Friend of Deb and Harve) on: Aug 26, 2013

My condolences. Even though it has been a very long time since I have seen Teeny, I remember her fondly as one of the most welcoming and easy to get along with people one could ever hope to meet. - Posted by: Lauralee Proudfoot () on: Aug 24, 2013
