ILSE ROEDER (SILBERMANN)
Born: Sep 24, 1926
Date of Passing: Aug 20, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryILSE ROEDER (nee SILBERMANN) September 24, 1926 - August 20, 2013 It is with deep sadness that the friends of Ilse Roeder announce her passing on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. She leaves to mourn, her two nephews Klaus Hentschel and Frank Silbermann and one niece Jutta Silbermann, as well as, her great-nieces and great-nephews, all from Germany, and her many, many friends in Canada. Ilse was born in 1926, in the small village of Kreinitz in Eastern Germany and later moved to Frankfurt in 1945, after the end of the Second World War. She and her husband Kurt (and their dog, Bambi), immigrated to Canada in 1956, where they carved out their new lives in Winnipeg. Ilse had a true love of all animals and nature, and many of her happiest times were spent on the deck of the cottage she and Kurt built near Lac-du-Bonnet. There she would sit and feed the birds, the chipmunks and the squirrels, and visit with them all as they dropped by for their daily meals. Ilse's love of life and her kind heart also endeared her to everyone she met, and her extended family of friends' always continued to grow. Her friends would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care of Ilse during her final days. In keeping with Ilse's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life where friends will have the opportunity to share their favourite Ilse stories will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ilse to the Winnipeg Humane Society. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. To all Ilse's friends: We are sorry we cannot be there to attend this special lady's celebration of life. Ilse was a special and caring lady. We will always remember her smile and her greeting, "hello, hello". She was very much in the know and had a great memory. There were many times we asked questions about "the lake" and she told us many great stories. She loved being at the lake and we are thankful for the many summers she spent there. We all loved her and will all miss her. Rest In Peace Dear Ilse!! Love Ed & Anne - Posted by: Ed & Anne Klassen (Neighbour & Friends) on: Aug 25, 2013

When I first met Ilse I was 17. Went to her cottage for years. We had many a good talk back then. I haven't seen Ilse for quite a few years, but still talked on the phone once in a while. I have many good memories from all those years. She is now at peace and with her friends and loved ones. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Louise Merck (friend for almost 47 years) on: Aug 25, 2013
