FLORENCE KATHERINE MILLIGAN (nee MCNABB) Our family is deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our wife, mum and gran, Florence. Mum left us on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the age of 82, in the loving arms of her husband and children. She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of almost 57 years, Edward, as well as her children; Dawn, Guyle and wife Debbie, Kerry and husband Greg. She also leaves her loving legacy to her adoring grandchildren, Kayla, Blair, Courtney, Scott, Meghan, and Connor. Mum is survived by her brother Frank and was predeceased by her father Douglas (Mack) McNabb, her brother Doug McNabb and dearly loved mum, Kay McNabb. Mum was born in Thornhill, Manitoba on April 21, 1931. She was raised in Morden and even though she lived in Winnipeg for 50 years, Morden always remained home to her. Mum truly loved life! She found beauty in her surroundings and loved what the different seasons had to offer. Her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. We all are better people for having her in our lives; her heartfelt hugs and loving advice will be truly missed. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Germaine, Palliative Care nurse for her kindness. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Dear Guyle and Debbie - we were so sorry to hear from Lorette today about your Mum's passing. It's always very hard to lose a mother. It's only been 2 yrs since my Mom died, but it's still hard to think about it. Your Mum sounded like a very special person and you were lucky to have had her for all those years. Our deepest sympathy to both of you. - Posted by: Leo and Lorraine St. Pierre (Cousins) on: Sep 12, 2013

Aunty Florence truly was the "moon in the sky" as Kayla wrote so eloquently. Every time we met, she beamed of love and assurance. When Keegan and Eamon came to Winnipeg to play hockey, they always looked forward to looking up in the crowd to see aunty Florence with her beautiful smile surrounded by family. We will never forget her. Shawn, Whitney, Keegan, Eamon, Tatumn and Kieran - Posted by: Shawn Milligan (Nephew) on: Sep 09, 2013

As you were the oldest cousin and I was 2nd to the youngest...you were my "hero" for as many years as I can remember. All the time I spent at your house right from when Dawn was a baby to babysitting all the kids (& Buttons who loved me as much as I loved her!) I will always cherish. I too will miss all those hugs, kisses & support you gave me for most of my life. You can now join your "Mom" my beloved Aunt and "Auntie Helen" your beloved Aunt as well as Grandma & Grandpa Pfeil & all the other family members that have gone before! My love and support go out to Edward who I always loved and made me laugh! To Dawn, Guyle, Debbie, Kerry & Greg & grandchildren, my sincere sympathy goes out to you. You were truly Blessed to have one of the BEST Mums on the face of the earth. May all the happy memories sustain you all at this difficult time. - Posted by: "Brendy" (cousin) on: Sep 05, 2013

Mrs. Milligan was always a special person to us. To Suzie she was that very endearing "Mum" who came into Safeway in Windsor Park and waited in her cashier line. She always was smiling, had something sweet to say and was so very warm. Although Suzie never saw her at home very much with her children, as a friend of Kerry's she learned from Kerry that she was one special "Mum". As for Gerry, he never stopped talking about her gleaming floors! From our relationship with the Macaulay family we know she was a one in a million Mother, Mother-in-law and Grandmother and to them, and to dear Mr. Milligan we extend our deepest sympathies. Aunty Florence you were deeply loved and admired by your Milligan relatives in Regina. Thank you for your ever reliable cards and letters, always written in your beautiful handwriting and never leaving anyone out in your thoughts and concern. We will miss your strength and humour at family gatherings and we want to extend our sympathies and love to your wonderful family in Winnipeg. You will never be forgotten. Often words are hard to come by in situations like this. Not in this case. My Aunty Florence was a wonderful woman. She always had time to play when we visited. A game of catch with her bare hands could be expected with every visit. A basement full of toys and interesting things was always there to look forward to. As a parent myself I have often remembered how committed she was and how much she loved her family. Dawn, Guyle and Kerry always came first…and don't forget Buttons and those turtles that occupied a place in the living room. No surprise that a donation to the Humane Society is requested rather than sending flowers. A role model for many, a legendary ball player, and above all a strong, caring woman, I’ll miss you Aunty Florence. Love Dougie - Posted by: Doug McNabb (Nephew) on: Sep 04, 2013
