RUTH OLFMAN Ruth Olfman (nee Myerson) was born in Winnipeg on June 26, 1922. She was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. Ruth married her husband Jack on February 25, 1951. Their marriage was a long and happy one; sadly Ruth became a widow when Jack's spirit left this world on October 28, 1997. They had two children, Shawn (1954) and Jerry (1958). Ruth devoted herself to raising her family during her sons' childhood and teenage years. Then in the mid-1970s Ruth split her time between looking after her family and helping seniors through running the Golden Age Club (now called the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre). After retiring from her position running the Golden Age Club, Ruth continued to help seniors as a volunteer at the Gwen Secter Creative Living Center, and then as the president of the Gwen Secter. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and person, kind and fair to all she met. To the eternal sadness of her family, Ruth's earthly body passed on September 18, 2013. Ruth is mourned and will always be remembered and missed by her sons Jerry and Shawn, and her daughter-in-law Arona Faith Binder Olfman, and her grandchildren, Maeir Zalman Olfman, Henya Rachell Olfman, Haneah Mera Olfman and Heva Zacaharell Olfman. Ruth was predeceased by her beloved: husband, Jack Olfman in 1997; father, Zalman Myerson in 1966; mother, Henya Myerson in 1960; and brother Avram. Funeral services will be held at the Chesed Shel Emes, 1023 Main Street, Winnipeg, on Monday, September 23, 2013. The time of the funeral service could not yet be scheduled. For the time of the funeral service please call 204-586-9601 on Sunday.
