Germaine is also survived by her five sisters. Germaine was born June 19, 1924 in Ste. Agathe. She was the second oldest of nine children. Upon graduation she chose as her profession to become a teacher, where she taught at various schools throughout the province. She was a teacher at St. Martin school when she met the love of her life, Florent. They married on July 24, 1950 and moved to Cochenour, Ontario where they lived for almost 10 years. They eventually moved back to Ste. Elizabeth where they farmed and raised six children. Mom was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening and was a creative seamstress. Mom had a love for all animals and especially her "petit Brun". Education was very important to Mom and she made sure that our studies came first. Mom had a tender and patient heart and truly loved all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and was always ready to help out with any needs we had. Mom and dad enjoyed camping and going south for the winters. Mom, we will miss you dearly but we know that you are in a better place - where Alzheimers, pain, and suffering do not exist. We thank you mom for all you've done for us over the years. Thank you to all the staff at Foyer Valade who cared for and loved our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4G2. It's been almost seventy years since I last met Germaine when she taught me grade six at St Martin. I remember how she made learning to be so interesting. Now that the journey is over, I hope that it was a pleasant one and pray that she rests in peace. - Posted by: Leonard Gratton () on: Oct 19, 2013
