Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACOB (POPS) FROESE June 19, 1943 - September 24, 2013 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dearest father and grandpa (pops) at the age of 70 years. Pops passed away at Tache Centre on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 with his cherished children by his side. Jake was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on June 19, 1943 to parents Anna and Jacob Froese. Jake spent most of his work life on the open road as a truck driver. He was a true outdoor person which he expressed frequently. His favourite pastimes included long walks with his kids, playing with the dogs and a love for music that he shared with everyone. Pops was well known for his expertise at frisbee, hockey, baseball, water fights and football playing, all in the house. Pops loved cars of all kinds and had many different models. Jake is survived by his children that he loved with all his heart, Jason Froese (Christine), Kristie Keryluk (Trent) and stepdaughter, Debbie Van Ettinger. His beloved grandchildren, Justice (12), Hailey (9), Kiandra (9), Talia (7) and Keria (3). Jake is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held for our dad (pops) on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Our family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Tache Centre where pops spent the last three years. Our father made many friends and was always cared for by wonderful staff. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Pops, we cannot express enough what you meant to us. We know that you are now free of your illnesses and with our precious mom in heaven; we have already started to take comfort in our wonderful memories of you and will miss you and love you always. Your yodel will never be forgotten, RIP our father, our friend, our pops. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

Hi there Pops - I'll never forget the first day I met you. We were fast friends for sure. But more than that I owe you so much for just being my dad even tho I was not your own. It was never spoken, and I just became your daughter. Every little girl needs a dad and I had you. I can't express enough my sincere fondness/respect/love that I have for you. I can only hope that someday we will see each other again and the fun will just continue. With Love Always Little Debbie (your name for me and the cookies we always ate together). - Posted by: Debbie Van Ettinger (Step Daughter) on: Oct 03, 2013

Growing up around uncle Jake was always a good time filled with laughs and stories. I looked up to him for his huge heart and how much his family meant to him. One of my fondest memories of uncle Jake was "the claw" and it brings a smile to my face every time I think about it. He definitely loved dogs and singing and I've never heard anyone yodel like him. I love you uncle Jake and will miss you dearly. Forever in our hearts - Posted by: Jennifer Plett (Niece) on: Oct 03, 2013

Remembering all those years of coming off the road with Jason and going for breakfast. Jake would always meet us, no matter what time it was and always show up in a different car. Those are times I will always remember. Rest In peace Jake - Posted by: Craig McKay (Friend) on: Oct 02, 2013

Uncle Jake was fondly remembered by me as the crazy truck driver who would show up honking his horn about half way down the street. We always knew it was him since no one else would be that silly. He would often take us for a ride and let us girls hang in cab, but we were never allowed food or pets in there and we had to stay in the front.. Every memory I have with Uncle Jake was laughing it didn't matter where you were what you did he always knew how to make you laugh. He was part of a small group dad used to speak of and that was what I can call the 3 stooges.. I can say that 'cause I know all of them.. Uncle Jake, Dad and Uncle John. Dad would tell me often how they did everything together growing up they were the best of friends. I will never forget him and will always have wonderful memories of Uncle Jake. - Posted by: Natalie Michaud (neice) on: Oct 02, 2013

Remembering his trips back to my mom and dads farm to see his sister (my mom Helen) and him entertaining us all. His story telling and yodelling, his ability to turn so many little things into a smile and a laugh When mom passed away he bob tailed all the way from south Texas to tillsonburg just to get here for her funeral. He loved his family! Gone yes, forgotten never. Rest in peace uncle Jake you did your job well and your family can carry on because of you. - Posted by: John Wiebe (Nephew) on: Oct 02, 2013
