RONALD A. FISHER In loving memory we announce the passing of our father and grandfather at the age of 76 at the Riverview Palliative Care Unit on September 25, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. His family was by his side. Ron was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years Gwendolyn (nee Betton) in 1998, his parents Robert and Ethel, brothers Robert and Roy, sisters Marguerite, Dorothy and Eileen and his daughter-in-law Michelle (Brad) in 2013. He is survived by his three children Bruce (Patty), Susan (Janet) Brad, five grandchildren Scott, Kayla (David), Christine (Amol), Travis (Allyson), Taylor (Kendall), great-grandson Gavin as well as his sister Audrey, sisters-in-law Jean and Lorette, brothers-in-law Fred and John and many nieces and nephews. Ron was born in Kenora, Ontario. He began his career in Kenora with the Canadian Pacific Railway and after being transferred to Alberta for a short time, settled his family in Winnipeg where he spent many decades in the building industry and retired after years of service to the Provincial Government of Manitoba. With a unique mechanical mind, dad was always a builder and continually amazed us with his creative inventions. After his retirement and mom's passing, he began woodworking and created many beautiful furniture pieces and detailed carvings of wildlife. He enjoyed friends, sports, politics and music, playing both the guitar and piano. He also had a deep love and respect for animals from family pets to wildlife. Dad was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He never missed a hockey or softball game or any event his family was involved in. A reserved man of deep integrity, dad passed on his values which is a gift that will always be with us. The family is grateful to all the staff at Riverview with special thanks to Susan Edmonds, Paul, Bonnie, Kim, Bev and Zoe. At Ron's request, there will be a private service. In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Manitoba Wildlife Rehabilitation Organization. A reunion occurred in Heaven this week as Dad was released from his mortal life. Dad met Mom in Heaven again, ending years of dignified grief. Together in peace, they watch over us all... until we meet again Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
