Date of Passing: Oct 15, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA BRABANT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 77 years, with her children by her side. Mom "embarked" on her trip to join Dad at the "big square dance" in the sky. She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children Gerry (Amanda), Danny (Cathy), Raymond, Jackie and Chrissy (Gord), sister Marge (Norm), brother Ken (Linda), brothers-in-law David and Emile, sisters-in-law Patricia, Isabel (Noel) and Leonie (Jim), six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Maurice (Moe) in 2008, brother George, sister Gladys, brother-in-law Denis, niece Dorothy and sisters-in-law Louise and Elsie. Mom was born in Rosenfeld, Manitoba and spent her early years there and in St. Jean Baptiste before moving to Winnipeg where she met the love of her life "Moe". Mom graduated from the St. Boniface School of Nursing in 1957. The majority of her working career was spent as an operating room nurse at the Victoria General Hospital. Mom dreamed of having 10 little boys but was blessed with three boys and two girls. Family was everything to mom. If she wasn't attending kids or grandkids school or sport functions, she was trying to get everyone together for family gatherings. She always loved any and all family gatherings. Mom enjoyed life travelling with her best friend Moe. Square dancing, bowling, going for late night coffee or any little road trip would always bring her much joy. Mom really enjoyed her trips abroad to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Cuba and numerous North American travels. Mom loved spending her time gardening, arranging her flower beds, watching her birds and the "darn" deer. She loved going to Folklorama and fall suppers. A private family viewing will take place Sunday evening. A celebration of Mom's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at St. Emile Catholic Church, 556 St. Anne's Road followed by a reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, CNIB, The Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. I worked with Pat in the OR at the Victoria Hospital. She was a fine lady and could tell she put family first. She treated her co-workers with respect and courtesy along with her patients. I will remember her fondly. - Posted by: Diane Eastwood Rice (Co-Worker) on: Apr 13, 2017

We went dancing last year while visiting Pat. Living in California for 53 years we did not see each other often. So happy we spent time together last year. God bless the family. - Posted by: jeannine gosselin (friend from 3rd grade or so in St Jean) on: Oct 22, 2013

Dear Family of Pat, Our mother introduced us to Pat when we were quite young. Pat's mother was our grandmother Anna Jogna's cousin. We always heard about Pat and her siblings - and fondly remember a visit to our house in Minnesota. In the fall of 2011, Vickie, Nancy and Olivia got to see Pat and meet some of her children as well as spend time with Ken, Linda, Marg and Norm. We treasure the memories we have of those times with Pat. We are so sorry for your loss and will remember Pat with great fondness and love. With sympathy for your loss, Vickie (Lemanczykafka), Nancy, Jody (Elmasry) and Shelly. - Posted by: The daughters of Olivia Kafka (3rd or 4th cousins) on: Oct 20, 2013

I will always remember Aunty Pat for her smile and her hugs ~ you couldn't see Aunty Pat without getting a hug and a kiss. Her laughter literally lit up a room. I find comfort in knowing she met her Moe on rainbow bridge and together they watch over us - Posted by: Heather Trelka (Great niece) on: Oct 19, 2013
