VERA POPESCUL Peacefully, with her family by her side, our mother, Vera Popescul, went home to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. On Tuesday, November 5, 2013 after a brief illness, Vera passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 86 years. Left to cherish Vera's memory are her children, Donald James Popescul, Catherine Ann Stuart, Linda Mae Bartlette, Gordon George Popescul and Rosemary Hamulka; only brother Nick Daniels of Regina, Saskatchewan. She was loved and will be missed by her grandchildren, Shannon and Mike Thuriche, Anne-Marie Ginoudis, Whitney and Patty Stuart, Russ and Kathy Stuart, Corban and Taylor Bartlette, Jessica and Veronica Hamulka. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Victoria and Michael Thuriche, Mackenzie Leanne Stuart and Amelia Jean Hamulka. She was predeceased by her husband George Popescul. Vera was a long-time resident of Winnipeg where she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Health Science Respiratory Rehabilitation. Before moving to Winnipeg she lived in Regina and was a long-time member of the Daughters of the Canadian-Romanian Club. Through the Christian Children's Fund Vera sponsored three children in various parts of the world. Retirement years for Vera were spent enjoying her grandchildren and her garden. Our mother has a green thumb and took pride in watching both her garden and her grand-children grow. The produce she shared with everyone. Vera always did small things with great love and big things with humility. We would like to thank the staff on the 3rd floor, unit 5 for all the care they provided to our mom during her final days. Funeral services will be held at The Church of the Rock, 1397 Buffalo Place at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013, with a private interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in honour of Mom's love of animals. My heart goes out to Vera's family who are my nieces and nephews. Your mom Vera, who go back a long way was more of a sister to me. Whatever she did her heart and soul was put into it. I know that God has richly blessed her and she will be celebrating with Mom, Dad and her brothers. Don, Cathy, Linda, Gord & Rosemary our love is with you now and always. God bless. Dear Catherine and family; Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of your Mom. I'm sure you remember how I always held a very special place in my heart for her. Today as I sit back remembering her caring and concern for us, I realize that She was my "Rock" through some very difficult times. She was always there for me almost treating me like her 4th daughter and I knew she sincerely meant doing so. Even though we lost touch over the last few years I want you to know that the memories we shared so many years ago will linger in my heart forever. Again I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care! My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Linda Carswell - Posted by: Linda Carswell (Ex Daughter-in-Law) on: Nov 08, 2013
